100-200px soft brush (black) and fade inwards
Simples.

Also, they've probably burned parts of it and set different layer tones and then added some lighting behind the text.

Theres more to that image than just soft fading.

i'm not pro in PS

with best of my knowledge, to get exactly that kind of shadings you need to edit 1st with picassa (similar application) import it to PS and play with Fonts.

anyhow, this link may help you fallow it

Solutho yeh that looks nice, black on the sides and a glow in the middle. Just like that. Can someone tell me step by step?

1-Add your image
2-Make a new layer
3-Fill it with black
4-Get a 1000px (depends on the size of your image) brush eraser and make the opacity around 50-70%
5-Delete a whole chunk of the center.
6-Play around with the opacity to get what you need.

Pretty simple and there are many ways of doing it.

Check the PSD here

Just create a new layer above the image and paint it black, then use a big soft brush, like 80-90% the height of your image and click once on the middle of the image.
If needed click again and a bit to the sides.

Steps:
1) Open the image in PS
2) Add a new layer
3) Choose the black to foreground gradient with the settings as shown in the below image:

4) Now on your image from the center drag towards the corner. Thats all!
