The Florida-based file-hosting service Hotfile has sued Warner Bros. for fraud and abuse. Hotfile accuses the movie studio of systematically abusing its anti-piracy tool by taking down hundreds of titles they don’t hold the copyrights to, including open source software. Among other things, Hotfile is looking for damages to compensate the company for the losses they suffered.

Anyways, they will lose ^^

Actually they have quite high chances of winning. This is clear case of dmca false notice. Did you read any dmca you got sent to you? it's always something in lines of "I have a good faith belief that use of the copyrighted material described above on the allegedly infringing web pages is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law." and "I swear, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notification is accurate and that I am the copyright owner or am authorized to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed.", meaning Warner bros was commiting Perjury on a mass scale, in order to receive financical gain (hotfile had a deal with few major labels, so that files taken down due to dmca get replaced with links to stores where one could purchase legally the file taken down).

Anyway, hotfile is dead for uploaders, and they have nothing to lose.

Well, i hope they will win it. If warner bross really took down files withour copyright then they just push over the limit.

Yeap I agree. If hotfile has files without copyright, in this case open source or another type of file without copyright, yeah ¿why not?. They only defend your filehost with the true and now they are not working with copyright and if warner bros only looking for destroy the company of hotfile then they have an option and maybe win and I would be very happy for that.....I hope that hotfile win and kick your ass to warner bros...Good Luck...:)

I'm rooting for Hotfile, its about time someone put a stop the overstepping methods of the Entertainment industry.

If it wasn't for filesharing, I wouldn't have known about all the artists I do. Thats what happens when you have old men who haven't kept up with the times running music companies.
