Help with USB Tethering (Android)

Hey guys i am really confused with the thing USB tethering...
I am not getting the point so i want you to help me out in understanding it..
I want to know if USB tethering allows me to connect to the internet on my Android phone using the broadband connection of my PC

If so then how??? please help....

No you can connect to the internet via the phone, it just acts as a Modem. If you want to connect your phone to your local Network you have to do this with WiFi if you have this Option :-)

Tethering turns your phone connection to the internet into a wifi hot spot.

No, usb tethering would allow your PC to use your phones data connection.
