I am searching for more than 3 weeks now a good reseller, that will allow me to host everything. I asked ecatel.net, and most of warez hosting, but they don't allow hyips(investment programs). Some of them only allow hyip linking, not hosting. I think is better to start with a reseller, and then if you get customer you buy VPS or if necessary a dedicated server. Starting with dedicated server is almost waste of time. Because you have to pay monthly the bills for it(around 150$) even if you don't have websites hosted on it.

Creating a webhosting company is not a quick way of making money, but is a bit safer. I read almost all threads over here about webhosting, but now my head is rounding...

I found a few resellers, 5-6, but I don't know which is the most reliable, which is most trusted, and so on. I suspect some of them, for overselling, which is very bad for me.

I don't want to risk 150$ for nothing. I'd better risk at most 40$.

Any opinions? How did you start your hosting? Just tell me your history in a few words.

thanks

thanks. I tried this on WHT and other forums about hosting, but no one is telling this, at least not for free. Some even said: "You shouldn't expect anyone on Webhostingtalk to tell you how to run your business, at least not for free. Many of the members here are your direct competition, their secrets to success are proprietary information.".

I don't agree with this.

ok, money is not a problem for me at this moment really. But I don't want to invest 150$ and get monthly back 30.

I need life experienced here: how EXACTLY did you start? and I am asking here for those who have their hosting already. What is the knowledge for this? Do I have to be a linux expert or what? What exactly do I have to know?

getting some resellers is ok to get a few customers and move on
the key to good success is providing a good relationship with your customers and providing a good service

just think back to the first time you bought some hosting and think about all the stuff you where thinking about
well you should think like that again about your clients this time and make the choices easy for them

I suggest you get a decent VPS, think about what kind of clients you want to host (Warez sites, personal site's, business websites). You make a target audience and then I suggest you sign up on several forums and put your topic up.

Let's say you post at like 20 forums. There has to be atleast a few client's that will be interested in using you. Give them a good service, let them spread the wordt, in the mean while maybe buy some advertising and you could go ;)

Posting is not a problem. I will get a VPS for sure. My target is to start the shared hosting in my country. Accept everything(except child pr0n, spam and some other things that only 0.0001% from all hosts will accept), VPS will be in Netherlands.

I don't want to offer them unlimited band, unlimited webspace, because is impossible and I can't. Instead of telling them I have 24/7 support, I'd better write there, 16/24 support 7/7 , bet ween 0 - 16 GMT for example. Why lie the customer? I hate when a host says 24/24 support and in fact they answer to a support ticket after 6-7 hours.

For a start
Get a Reseller and run the hosting with a decent domain & template
After 1-2 months after excessive advertisement of your host, if it runs well, the Buy a Powerful VPS
After that run the host on VPS and extend your network like that

After 1 year you might be having much money to buy a Dedicated Server and start giving your own VPS and so you can make extra Profit.
===
If you think you have the potential, then better to start on a VPS rather than a Reseller.
And My Suggestion :
Donot Sell Resellers on your VPS as they would just overload the server causing hell of downtime.

I was waiting an answer from you Plutost, thanks.

My fear with a reseller: if a possible client makes a whois lookup on my host and sees I am reseller, he will buy directly from source.

Template is not the problem, my friend is a very good webdesigner, he made a loooot of templates for different sites. Programming issues same, I am medium php programmer, so is not a problem.

If I take a VPS(I think is best to start), I will sell only shared hosting. The main thing is that I want cPanel on my VPS, so provider offered me cPanel trial for 45 days and then pay 15$/month for license. I will use a nulled WHMCS copy, and hope a good one.

[offtopic]: is there anyone who has a complete functional copy of WHMCS, without backdoors? I read too many things on forums, about WHMCS nulled copies and this is why I am a bit afraid to use any. If you have one PM me please.

I would reccomend a dedicated for speeds, the better your service the more clients you will get so its best to go for a dedicated and amaze your first few customers ;)

I don't have money for a dedicated, which allows everything. and the only thing I can pay is AlertPay, LibertyReserve and maybe Paypal(trying to avoid it). I've contacted ecatel datacenter.

here is their answer, of course with the cheapest

Processor : PROCASE PENTIUM 4 3.0/3.2 GhZ HT
Memory : 1GB DDR2 RAM
Harddisk : 200GB ATA (7,200rpm) 3.5inch Hard Drive (non hot-plug)
Ip adresses : 4

Monthly traffic Connection Speed Connection Type Monthly fee

5 TB 100 mbit unshared 85,- EUR
10 TB 100 mbit unshared 109,- EUR
unmetered 100 mbit shared 109,- EUR
unmetered 100 mbit unshared 250,- EUR

and prices are in EURO, not $$

We have Licensed WHMCS.. but giving you the Copy won't help as it needs a License Key which is generated only for one Domain :(
Better to cashout 20$/month for it

I know this Plutost, and thanks for help anyway. But anyway, the hosting gave the idea to search for a nulled WHMCS. But is there any free alternative?

I found something, a bit cheaper: 13$/month for WHMCS and 7$/month for ClientExec.

http://licensepal.com

What do you think about clientexec?

Ohh it brings out the past lol
When I started Plutost.com wayback in May 2008, I had used ClientExec from Licensepal.com
It was good, but it didn't have the features of WHMCS.
I'm leasing the License of WHMCS directly from the Main Site. You can use Licensepal, it makes no difference :p
