My PC was freezing since last couple of days...i found a message in HD sentinel that 3 sectors are weak..

I did defragmentation but it was of little help....
Couple of things i would like to know...

The current HD I am using is of 320gb WD HD and 1gb ram
Shall i buy WD or Go for Seagate or any other brand?
If i use 2 HDs...how much more RAM should i buy?
Do i need to format the existing HD if i use both the disks?

regards,

-You can read reviews and buy any quality HD according to your needs.

-You can always add an additional 1GB RAM but it's not necessary if you're not a heavy user.

-No you do not need to format the current HD, but you should make a backup on your new HD and use it as Primary with OS installed in it. Since your old HD could crash or get corrupted as it's got bad sectors.

It's a matter of taste. both brands are good.

None really. But having 2GB of ram is pretty standard, since a GB costs under $10 now.

No, but since you are having problem with your current one, you could try formatting it, it may fix something.

Follow what JGM says. It's never bad to have backups but remember to have backups of backups sometimes. I used to copy files to two drives at a time, recently though i lost 750gig of data due to a fault with the drives which in turn killed both backups.

If data is important, then don't hesitate buy new HDD.

If you are looking to buy SATA HDD, then get WD Black or Segate 2.5inch Constellation
