I installed GTA 4 last night, played one/two missions and saw the ffs is really slow. Then I recollected there was some patch available for gta. I saw it when I opened the Social gaming thing. I downloaded it and installed it. Then it was asking me to install some update saying latest games in live or something similar to that. I downloaded that also. After installing I tried running the game again. It was showing fatal error :O I had to reinstall the whole game -.- Its working now :)

Now, how do I fix the video problem? I thought the patch fixes it but it corrupted the game lol. I use Nvedia 9600 GT Super graphic card with intel core2duo and 2gb ram.

2gb is less? :O and the os is 86x. I reinstalled it today morning and it worked. But the problem is ffs not that error. What patch I should install? :|

Try to run it on medium..n unfortunately 2 gb is less...coz u r on win 7....thats the main reason of low FPS ....my frnd had such issues..(low FPS) he installed each and every patch+update...FPS increased by 8....

GTA4 is huuuugely dependent on your CPU. I mean big-style. My current setup (Q9550 Quad-Core @ 3.7GHz + 4GB RAM + ATi 5870) can barely run it on high. It slows down at times, so i turn down a few things in the options. Still, no matter what i set the graphics to, its the only game i've seen that uses 80% of all cores at certain times :o

Its a badly coded game all round tbh. Its pretty much a direct console port. I can play pretty much any other game on highest settings without a problem.

I'll try to reduce the graphics and check. I had played this game on xp few months back with the patches and it was kinda smooth. I don't have the link to those patches now :((

I second that, it's a resource hog ;)

Royal king windows 7 needs more than 2 GB to run gta4 smoothly.:) you will be needing more RAM and don't install latest patch I'm also having errors with their patch, rockstar sucks in Pc games.:( So you'll need more amount of RAM ofcourse and more than 512 MB video memory with 8800+ nvidia and yeah disable autocapture feature in gta 4 it enhances performance very well, increases FPS.:P

yeah second to that it requires CPU very much as its not optimized well for GPU. However its totally dependent on CPU you can say that. If you decrease the resolution, suddenly you will gain high amount of FPS
