So I just got my Nexus One, and I have to say that I'm loving it.

One weird thing though, I was always under the impression that Nexus One doesn't support multi-touch (ie: pinch to zoom), but when I received the phone, after 30 minutes of playing with it I get an update alert, so I accept and update (update-1).

After that, I noticed that the pinch gesture works fine in browser, gallery, maps..etc, I didn't realize it at first because I was just doing it out of instinct (I have an iPod Touch), so after a while I said "wtf, pinch shouldn't work, my phone is haunted".

So I did some research and found one comment about it, since Apple has a patent for the pinch/multi-touch Nexus One in US doesn't support multi-touch.

Kinda weird to be honest, so I figured maybe the OS update enabled that feature because location is not US? Or did Google announce they will enable it for everyone and I missed the announcement?

Anyway, I love the phone, Google Goggles app is amazing, basically use the camera to search for stuff, I tested it on my Marlboro (as see in the pic) it scanned and outlined text "Marlboro" then searched for it, very very impressive.

It also reads barcodes to compare prices and stuff.

Can't wait for the next Android update (Froyo 2.2).

Hmm nice, was thinking of getting one, but already got a 3GS so..
What's it like compared to your touch? (assuming you have it jailbroken)

The reason I didn't get a nexus is cause I don't want to get rid my iphone cause of installous (best invention ever).

But damn, this looks pretty tempting :D

Specifications wise, if you compare it with iPhone 3Gs, Nexus One wins no doubt.

But if you're really a hardcore Apple/iPhone fan, then I guess you can wait for the new iPhone 4G, will be released in June I believe.

I just love the fact that it's all open source, possibilities are endless, I mean, if you are up-to-date with Android releases, the latest announcement that Froyo (2.2) is 450% faster than Eclair (2.1), and that's only by software optimization, no hardware changed.

Android overall rules but I dislike the N1. It is a great phone but I personally dislike it because it's hyped and nothing special, plus I don't like the design (only a matter of personal preference) HTC has awesome phones coming out lately, like the Desire, so thinking about getting one of those. Btw, weren't you all "touchscreens ftl" before? =D

(ATM I have an iPhone updated to 4.0b3, the OS is just monotonous to me and lately I don't like Apple very much.)

Doesn't mean it's better. iPhone is still doing good because
a) hey, it's made by the oh-so-classy Apple!
b) simple, straightforward (but monotonous to power users) interface
c) OS4 rumors

Open OSs FTW. I want to be able to do more on a phone, one thing that Apple openly forbids "for customers' good". Well fuck you Apple, I'm going open.

We're going offtopic here btw :p

I thought about Desire, but one thing stopped me, OS updates, I like my phone to be stock, not much of a modifier to be honest, N1 will get Android updates instantly because it uses an unmodified Android, however with HTC Desire, Hero..etc they all use a modified Android, UI features mainly.

So you have to wait for HTC to release an official update, which takes months, I believe HTC Hero is still on Android 1.6, users are still waiting for an official update to 2.1, which doesn't seem to be happening soon, but who knows.

And yes, I still stand by my statement lol, smartphones are not practical at all, I do what Martin Cooper does, I have an android for my web and "smartphone" needs, and a Nokia for my daily use stuff.

Who cares about official updates? Custom firmwares FTW.

PS. Hero has Eclair :)
PS2. Not practical? Oh come on, you must be kidding me. Oh well.

Nope, didn't even bother to be honest, I never even OC'd my processor, not a fan of doing custom stuff. Hell, I don't even ask restaurants to modify the order, I just get what they offer.

That's the beauty of N1 though, I don't need to modify or root anything.
