Actually thinking of doing that privately, too many people jump on it at once and crash many file hosts, so we decided to take it easy and just get some users first. Perhaps this is something we need to implement.
 
Can you not post 'check PM' please? We have Ajax, that notifies a person he received PM, no need to tell him that on topic. Even if he doesn't have it enabled, he is forced to see notification about PM on first page refresh, so he cannot avoid seeing PM.
