There is three things that im noticing when I opened your wehsite.
First I want you to get a new favicon as the current one is bad imo.
Second thing I notice is that your shoutbox is visible for everyone. Hide it and make it only visible for your registered members.
Third thing im noticing is the logo which could be way better.
I'd recommend to hide all kind of statistic, specially the post statistics until you have something to show off. There's no statistics at the moment and if I as a guest browsed through your page and saw these statistics I would never bothered to use a few minutes to register on your website only due to these statistics.
Make all your friends sign up and help you with the community.
Make new topics, start discussing and everything would increase from there.
Make sure there's new topics/posts regulary to keep your community busy. A busy community is always good and when you have some topics and posts to show then you can make the statistics visible for everyone.
IMO you can also remove the trash can, it's not needed.
If you want to trash something, simply use the delete button.
Having a graveyard for trash is just filling up the db with.. yes.. trash.. which again is not needed and no one would ever bother to look for anything the trash section and I also assume there's nothing to be much trash due to the content you're provindg on your site.
It's not a warez site, therefore there wont be many dead links that should be trashed and I can guarantee that you and your staff wouldn't go around and trash regular topics just for fun.
Try to add something more under recently added topics on the right side, there's lots of empty space there so you can fill it up with something cool.
