Moooo  WJers,

I'd like to get your opinion what are the most common feature requests and issues with file and video hosting services these days and what is it that you would like to see in the market, in order to decide on using that one provider as your go to decision?

Any input will be highly appreciated.

I'd also be interested to know why they only offer unlimited storage for premium accounts? I guess this is some sort of securing premiums to be bought after they serve you with several freebies?

Premium ( generally no ads, possibility to insert our own ads, no file deletion, ans sometimes access to catalog all users)

Thanks for your inputs so far guys.

@woxenrud - you might have actually just enlighten me, so I'll share this idea with everyone else (you're welcome to use it in your own host):

Up until now, I was blindfolded to understand why is there such a big refund ratio on file hosts apart from fraudulent transactions: people are looking to download just 1-2-3 files and any subscription would be too much for them.

Solution? Enabling pay to download per file (premium subscription still available). This way, you will be able to lower refund ratio and possibly increase sales.

Users could be credited in PPS table for each paid download.

You're welcome. Guys, I really appreciate every input you have on this matter, so keep 'em coming ?❤

Hi Bull. I don't post here often but I have seen you around mostly cleaning and calling bullshit when needed. Greatly appreciated.
Background

Im recently started tube sites a little shy of a year ago. Today I have 4 free adult niche tube sites. 2 Mainstream sites which I use as a curating pool if you know what I mean. And 2 paid premium sites also adult niches which don't apply to this topic as the people I white-label for forbid anyone from hosting videos so they are self-hosted or embedded from their server (Which is kind of shitty).
To things and I'm sure you familiar with this
A) You get dumps from main sites p0rnhub x vids etc. That's good for beginners as is almost all done for you just paste some code and done. The big flaw with this method is you don't get paid for views they only paid for traffic from your site and they pre-roll the shit out of those videos. Even straight-up youtube videos and can't even close and completely immune to AdBlock (which is kind of impressive). Another problem is keep updated every site have their own API I had to run 4 or 5 times per week because of dead links DMCA strikes and sometimes the whole thing will just delete 40,000 videos in 1 go for no reason.

B You take the self-hosting burden. Which is a bit better for your viewers but not for the webmaster very few good hosting let you store that much porn and the one they do they either some rubbish that take 48 hours to reply an urgent ticket or they charge like a Doctor. Also, have to deal with quality controls and where you get the videos from etc. Using 3rd parties (FInally what you asked for) Normally expensive, slow connections they also pre roll ads I mean places like openload (RIP) so you get free videos either your own uploads or other people but you have no chance customize or reroll your ads.

I'm currently testing a fellow Wjuntionist Vid.sh So far so good I like they offer the free users the full experience in my case I wouldn't mind paying a premium to get some sort of control, for example, I'm dying to encode my own videos and preroll ads. Add my watermarks intros Pimp them out as it should, Im currently hiring people from fiveer to do it which is ok but is not something that I get what I want as I give them " artistic license"

Ok I think I got carried away let me resume

Ideal hosting video service
*Unlimited storage and bandwidth
*Better ways to upload so far FTP, Web browser, or through API. It should have cloud storage builtin. (even on paid members only feature)
*Ability to encode your media
*Content lockers

If you noticed I didn't mention anything about payments I believe a service like a described shouldn't pay their user but rather get paid or the good old free with ads and pay the webmaster or paid no ads but all the perks.

I myself have been looking something like 10PB SSD 1Gbit asymmetric network and DMCA free and is not that expensive but rather technical and custom code framework that I have no knowledge of so far my hosting solutions are Mega.nz m m3 server, AWS, Google cloud (which is not porn friendly at all) ondrive which is really good but limited storage*

So that's all I wanted to say a bit scatter all over the place just like me! Hope this gives you another perspective and if you need anything else just hit me up

Thanks for the detailed explanation @kingofkings, this is GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Anyways, some of the members here from WJunction might recall what is my business intention, but nobody knows what is my end goal, so I'd like to clarify it once again, and the reason why I am asking these questions:

First, our (brothers and mine) ultimate goal was to create 3 services: URL shortener, image host, and file host. All three services would have one point of account information, and considering the service they'd like to use, they could choose either one of the three mentioned, two combined, or all three services. What is the end goal?
- People who use file hosts to upload videos would like to have thumbnails generated for some type of preview. If they decide to use our file host, it will automatically generate a thumbnail for their uploaded video and hosted on the image host. This way, we automate a good part of the job which they spend time on. If the uploader is owned webmaster and would like to generate cash from URL as well, he simply opt-in for URL shortener service, so they automatically get link generated for his uploaded file, image uploaded and link shared for the video and that link would be covered by URL shortener, for extra income.

During this process, we've identified that our approach would be more attractive if we could allow them to use self ad-publishing account, but unfortunately due to restrictions which networks apply, we are unable to identify traffic and it leaves us with a risk. So, now our ultimate goal is to partner with several major advertising and affiliate networks to create one point of revenue - advertiser network, so basically, users won't be paid pennies and dimes from the pay-per-view/download model, but rather have full-blown revenue which one ad network could provide them. So revenue margins would be even greater. And also while keeping a pay-per-sale package. We wanted to scale this type of service by releasing them one by one and then ultimately connecting them, but once we've added ad network in our final plan, we've paused with release and will release everything under one umbrella.

Now to get back on the point, we're looking to implement as many possible solutions for our members as possible.

For viewers/downloaders: free download/view (limited speed, adful experience, pay to download for a single file, premium account)
For affiliate partners: Different monetization methods like owned ad tags inside, pay-per-sale profit, simple integrated ad solutions (like others offer). Also, we identified the problem that many uploaders would like to offer an ad-free experience for videos/images and links to their users, so we will be offering a separate paid package for those webmasters: pay premium-rate (for example $199 a month) to be able to disable all ads on embedded videos, pre-roll ads and still have premium speeds, ad-free user experience, or custom ad codes (apart from our network).

Unfortunately, the realization of this idea (which is currently being under development) requires a lot more time for infrastructure planning, setting it up, and making sure that this business plan would work seamlessly by beta-releasing it for a limited number of users. I'm going to keep WJunction updated on this sort, and this is the exact reason why I have created this thread: to try and identify all problems that webmasters and uploaders face when choosing their partner for file-storage.

Oh, and the most important thing to clarify: we've currently in process of negotiation with two datacenters to secure colocation and network infrastructure, so this thing would also be partially covered by us, so we could retain a certain level of privacy for our customers, though we cannot guarantee bulletproof hosting, since, in order to be able to sustain in the market, we need to ensure that copyright holders are satisfied as well. We also have solution for this to satisfy both parties, but don't want to talk much about it.

I think you are in the right direction, just a word of advice I worked in major marking firms in London ad networks are vicious they will suck you dry and move to the next so do double background on them, I came across to some similar-ish service which it main partner is Adultfriendfinder it seems old and weird looking I'll try to look it up and pm the name I can't remember right now.
But anyway keep it up the world is changing change is good...

As I told, rather than working exclusively with one ad network, we will be developing our own and partner with numerous of others, so in case one goes there are still plenty of others. Also there will probably be direct advertisers as well, so we have that covered as well :)

Thanks for the support and Happy Holidays!
