Hello,

I am thinking about my own file hosting. Maybe someone is also on this scene and could recommend me some good ad companies? And is it possible to use google ads on file hostings (like rapidshare etc...)

Don't worry about my budget, worry about yours :D
I'm just asking about good ad companies, not about HOW to start file hosting.

you will need a company that pays good cpm because mainly filehosts earn from their download pages with cpm... so start off with adbrite, later try out better paying companies like tribalfusion, CPX Interactive, Casale Media.

Hope this helps

Expect to lose a good $20,000+ before you start making it (and much more) back.

There's no ads company that'll make you profit from a file host unless you're operating the whole ShareCash shit, where you fill out forms.. have to click on ads.. etc. Banner ads may compensate a percentage of your outgoing funds, but you'll have to rely on other things such as premium account purchases, etc. CPC will be useless for you, and CPM won't get you too far either if your click rate is low; which it will be, as people want their file, not to click for their million dollar visitor prize.

It seems you're starting a filehost to make money from the start, and honestly, you're in the wrong field for that..

For it to operate effectively (economies of scale), you'll need to purchase a few racks to begin, and bandwith in bulk. Sure, this will cost thousands, but eventually when traffic hits you, you'll earn back a lot more in ratio than if you just started with a single server running on a 10TB cap line.

That's what I wanted to hear. Thanks. I know that huge money won't come from ads, I'm just curious about the situation. Maybe someone who is already on this scene could reveal his click rates? :)

Also, I know that it is a bad idea to add bunch of ads at first, but I think 1-2 is not very bad.

This is not really right. But that's a fact that many people do so. And that's why they always are behind rapidshare, depositfiles and others...
