File host meta tags... what for?

Hey!

I often see in the source code of websites with links to file host content that kind of stuff:

<meta content="XXXXXXX" name="oron" /> <meta name="Fileserve" content="fileserve.com-XXXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX"> <meta name="hotfile" content="hotfile.com-XXXXXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXXXX">

What does that means?

This way, what happen when somebody click on the links in their pages?
If somebody posts his links on that kind of sites, will he still be credited for downloads? For sales?
If yes, then why do they add this code? What does it change for the site owner to have this lines in his code?
And if the uploader is always credited why do some people try to find ways to hide their links?
