It's quite unfortunate since they used to be one of the most reliable hosts out there. However, it's quite sad to see that some "users" took advantage of fembed's unlimited drive by using proxy players to avoid their player and ads. Perhaps this is one of the reason they closed the site.

only their homepage is working, their dashboard is offline. I hope they are working on something because I have many custom videos and I can't recover them if they don't come back online
 
This is very sad, it is confirmed that fembed is already gone. Its an internal problem (employer vs employee). I asked the owner "Warren" he told me that He still have a backup but He plan to discontinue fembed forever.

at least they should give us the opportunity to download our videos. how is it possible an old video hosting like theirs close without notice?

Fembed is collapsing soon. they're just waiting until they're not profitable at all before closing. which should happens anytime now. The classic lifecycle of a video host
