Feds Shut Down Megaupload

i read parts of the indictment and it states that megaupload claims to be a cyberlocker, to store private files. but if the file isn't downloaded in 90s its deleted so they are making the point that how can it be a file storage cyberlocker if the file has to be shared...

and it talked about the fact that anybody, even non-registered users can upload a file there.

and it says that kim was uploading files as well?

The one thing that sucks is that Megaupload HAD server in US jurisdiction INCLUDING the state of Virginia and Washington... They also had servers in Canada. Just having servers there alone can be taken down for "pirate content" for no reason. Also, a big site like that should have known better and been hosted in a country where the US does not have the ability to take down their servers. Also, all TLD's are US based besides specific country-code ones like .uk, .bb, .ws, .it, .de, .hk, .cd, .to, etc. Even using a US based TLD (which is every single one beside country code specific) can be taken buy the US government even if the domain provider isn't US-based. Megaupload should have had a host in Hong Kong or something and have cool country-code TLDs where the US can't touch the servers or domain names.

I never visited Megaupload that often but I still loved the Megavideo part and sometimes did download things here and there from Megaupload itself. It's a shame it's gone. :(
 
All i know it´s i wont even access to USA based FileHost i denny totally "Patriot Act law" and all other american shits, still crazy with New Zealand government who will decide during today if they send them to USA to join jail :facepalm:

haha i love the way how they finally explained in detail how the bigger hosters do the dirty work and how they fake the take downs from the original copyright holders who got access to the "abuse tool"..

Thats pure fucking genius hahah :D they linked millions of urls to a single file, but really in the background each url got blacklisted still leaving the original file intact...

Meaning they did not have to have TB's of HDD space because they ingeniously had it lookup the MD5 and delete the new uploaded file and link to the old file.
 
I had some videos on MU made by myself during my holidays and shared with people that were with me and they have been stolen (who protects my rights?). ok, but why are those "tubes" sites still on? they are not different from megavideo except for their lower relevance compared to MU/MV etc and the fact that 99,99% of stuff uploaded there is copyrighted.
ok, some of them don't reward uploaders, but all of them generate cash from advertising.
In rich times some behaviours are more tolerated, in poorer times less or nothing.
Anyway I don't see why some actors are to be paid 20 millions USD for a movie and who discovers the cure for deadly diseases or a fireman only few thousand dollars a year.
it's a part or a greater and wider discussion, I know. I only wanted to express a part of my thought.
