Mozilla has uploaded Firefox 7 final version a day early. You can now install and use the final version where as the Firefox website has yet to be updated.

Mozilla's MemShring project has drastically improved Firefox's memory use in this version. Firefox 7 consumes 50% less RAM when compared to Firefox 6.

Whats new:

  • Drastically improved memory use
  • Added a new rendering backend to speed up Canvas operations on Windows systems
  • Bookmark and password changes now sync almost instantly when using Firefox Sync
  • Added support for text-overflow: ellipsis
  • Added support for the Web Timing specification
  • Added an opt-in system for users to send performance data back to Mozilla to improve future versions of Firefox. This can be enabled by installing an add-on
  • Fixed several stability issues

This version is for the testers.. Its not a early upload...

I just downloaded it tho.. I used to be on the testers group for a little its free to join..

Yes this is a test release open for the public whos apart of the test group...

They do this until all surveys have been answered..

Its a final test release which they found stable enough to be set in the release channel

This version is still buggy :( FF6 used to consume 1.5 GB of RAM so I just downloaded and installed FF7 but I got don't send error 3 times. Can anyone please give me a stable version? Mofo FF9 please :D

hell yeah i just downloaded the nightly.. it is much more less resource intensive.. I never used the nightly builds always hated it being a 2nd install

Mozilla should just download Chrome, remove the logo and replace it with a FireFox one if they intend on copying absolutely everything.

All those 'new' features have being in Chrome for MONTHS.
like LOL support for text-overflow: ellipsis? What is this 2008? FFS IE 6 supports this.

forget this, make your computer happy and download a real browser.

lol mr happy well both are nice browsers what i like in chrome is the autotranslation feature and the sync is better:) anyway i have both but i prefer firefox also i don't like the way chrome renders pic it make it feel slow!firefox is faster if you tweak the setting atleast for me.

Increase FF Page Loading Speed

1) Type about:config into the address bar

2) Alter the entries as follows:
Set network.http.pipelining to true
Set network.http.proxy.pipelining to true
Set network.http.pipelining.maxrequests to 10.
3) Right-click anywhere and select New->Integer.
Add name nglayout.initialpaint.delay with value to 0 (Zero)
Optional: Add new field below for even faster web browsing,
New String - network.dns.disableIPv6: set false
New Integer content.notify.backoffcount: set 5 (Five)
New Integer - ui.submenuDelay: set 0 (Zero)

;)

you are right that surely make firefox faster at loading site and youtube videos thanks for the post :)

FACT: Independent tests have shown the only area where FireFox is proven faster is in crashing.

well been using both they never crashed since 3 months for me,chrome uses more ram than firefox 7 now :) several people say chrome get 100 in acid3 test some firefox fanboy say acid3 is a crappy test but if you use firefox you will see it renders many site better than chrome.depends on your taste B-)
