Domain forwarding or 301 Permanent Redirect

hello i was wondering which one is better when there is need to change Domain. domain forwarding using the registrar panel or 301 permanent redirect using .htaccess . which one is better in regards to SEO etc..

When you set up a redirect in your hosting admin panel it should create a 301 redirect the same as using the appropriate code in an .htacess file. just be sure that it doies though as opposed to it creating a frame in which your website will reside
