Some banks actually allow you to open offshore accounts.

E.g. in the uk HSBC has offshore accounts if i remember correctly. "Hiding" from the tax is still tough though.

To get a free offshore account to avoid taxes, no that's impossible, unless u wanna avoid 100 euro/month, I guess nobody keeps track of that. But then, why bother avoiding.

If he had some money to hide from taxes, then he probably wouldn't be looking for free offshore account :)

Why, may I ask?

You can't do it online. Nor through a phone call.

There is ICIB (or something like that) in India and they have some online bank account thing with good interest rates. They send you an application in the mail. I did this once. Before sending the application back, I googled them. Man, it was a nightmare (bad service, rip offs, delays, etc). So I said fu*k it. They nagged me for years after that. Besides, you can't avoid taxes that way either.

The basic procedure is to have an offshore incorporation, owned by people you've hired (or paid, usually between $3000 - $9000 USD), and that incorporation owns a trust fund, that you have access to. Traceable though. Also, having this setup, you are lying to your government by saying you don't own any other assets. When they find out -- and they DO -- they freeze, and seize the funds, in the account through a court order.

Just pay the taxes. It's easier and a lot safer. :P

(Edit, just noticed you're a desi ;) Maybe this is what you wanted if it's local to you: http://www.icicibank.com/ Google them though.)
