Counter Strike 1.6 help

Hey all
I'm again into the good'ol Counter Strike 1.6
I play on LAN as I don't have a STEAM Account.

Now, what I want is that, tell me how the fuck can I setup my own server ? in which, I'll be the admin
Also, please enlist the best MODs for CS 1.6

You need to pay monthly for the server, you can also create it yourself @ your dekstop, but it will be slowly you gotta have a good speed.

You dont need a high end machine for 1.6, you only need a fair upload speed, there are tons of guides to set it up at your desktop

I set it up using the hlds.exe
But, my friends compain that they cannot connect to it :s

If you play on lan create a server using hlds.exe change NETWORK from INTERNET to LAN and give your lan ip.
You will be the admin and can change map, kick, ban and do all that stuff :D

I'm unable to connect to the server I make if I put it as LAN, but, if I change it to INTERNET then it works :s

I mean, I'm viewing Steam's site and I came to conclusion that, I need a STEAM Account so that I can play & download the games directly.
My confusion is that, I download any game from a warez site, I meant to say that if the game is cracked, will I'd be able to use my STEAM Login on it ?

Think of steam as the microsoft live gaming thing, if you don't have an account, you can still play cracked games offline, and online on cracked servers, once you get the legal account, you can play on legit servers, get all patches, updates etc.

I suggest u go for Garena. They have all multiplayer games like Dota CS NFS MW
etc... You can signup for free or as a premium member
