Hello,
I would like to congratulation to those who has survived penguin update. If your website survived penguin update then you are safe till 2014. You will not see any major google update in between these years. Remember when Google publish this type of strict update earlier? Yeah, It was many years ago. Recently we just did not see any major update like penguin. Penguin punished almost every junk sites as well as some well reputed sites. They are attacked because of heavy incoming back links to their site from every possible source.

When google launched penguin it faced some bug issues like website without a content comes up at the first page for some long tail keywords. That's why they launched penguin 1.1 which is quite fixed from these bug issues.

So, congratulation to those whose websites survived after penguin update. Their website is going to dominate google for at least two years if they maintain their link building strategy.

If your traffic decreased drastically, when they published penguin update, then you probably are.
If your traffic is decreasing gradually, then you didn't.

Hello

Suppose you can't find unusual traffic drop in your google analytics data or say your top ten keywords are still on their respected positions then you can tell that your website is not hit by penguin.

Some webmasters received a message from google about their site punishment in their webmaster tool.

Yeah .. Google traffic dies pretty well instantly, and with a webmaster tool mail, if you have that website hooked up.

What I found sketchy, was that they also went out of their way to target those websites on my Adsense account and banning them also - just those particular websites, not the entire account.

Perhaps trying to prove a point?
At the very least, this would have hit tonnes of people really hard, now that they can't use Adsense on those domains any longer.
 
I survived with only minor casulties!


Few of my sites jumped up and 2 others went down slightly.

I'd say it worked out though, more $$ is coming in than before!
 
This update actually helped my site gain 10%-20% of extra traffic. jumped from 15000 to 18000 vis/day. eliminating the junk sites now has made my site rank almost among the first 3 on all my specific keywords.
 
At first my major site went from the top 3 in google for my keyboards to page fifteen but it's evened itself out, still in the top 3 now since they fixed it up. I recall the day it launched and it all was hell all over. Thank god for SEO QUAKE / SEM Rush.
 
my site is still ranking for old keywords....... bt nw im nowhere in search engine for all my new posts

its down frm 40k a day to 2-3k a day :(
 
One of my sites was hit, but I tweaked it a little and threw some good links on there and its right back to where it should be. Top 3. !

The rest of my sites kind of just bounced, some didn't change at all.
