So I bought a BB Playbook a few days ago and broke it because I accidentally dropped it on the road and didn't know. A car ran over it. The screen is cracked, only the front screen though.

A replacement product: http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...sPageName=VIP:watchlink:top:en#ht_2517wt_1270

So, I'm thinking to replace the screen myself but since I'm new to this kind of stuff, I am not sure if I'm looking at the right product to buy for my need.

Is that product I've provided for like modding the playbook over the "working" screen or to replace the screen for situation like mine? I think that's what it's for but need to make sure.

Thanks.

better contact proffessional else u will make more defect in this stuff
Uhm, I currently don't know any BB professional in person but it seems easy to replace according to the explanation on that eBay seller's sell page. But I'm not sure if that's the only thing I need to replace the cracked screen.

you have got to determine whats wrong? is the digitizer broken.. or the lcd is broke? secondly.. does the LCD work fine? it responds to touch sensations from the digitizer even if its broken?

if yes, get the digitzer only, otherwise if the lcd is damaged.. u'll have to get that aswell.

also better contact a professional for installation!

edit: and yes it isnt aa big deal installing the digitizer! same case as in mobiles. you connect the strip end to the chip which is usually somwhere above the lcd and its done! but you risk damaging the connector pins or ports! so yea, just take it to someone who repairs mobiles and he'll do it for you!

its the same process.

Besides the fact the screen is broken does it seam to work? I'd be worried that other internal parts are broken in which case replacing a screen is pointless. It's not the most expensive of things so your as well of giving it a go but I'd be very afraid it still won't work as other more delicate internal parts are cracked or broken.

In better news Apple today announced discounts on their refurbished iPads (visit apple.com) which could make for a cheap replacement. No idea why anyone would buy a PlayBook to begin with.

Happy, there was a sale for playbook. Also, if you are using blackberries, you can do a bridge so playbook is actually awesome. Plus the iPad is 10.1" while the PB is 7", size does matter. :)

Thanks for your replies. I really need to get on with this problem. So I'm not sure what the difference is between the digitalizer and the LCD. So let me describe it as best as I can.

The screen still responses perfectly to touch actions. The LCD (or the glass), the surface is broken, cracked. I think tiny stones on the car's wheel damage those spots. It seems the tablet still works but there's only one thing that concerns me right now about internal damages. The battery is showing a lightning symbol. It says 0%. I've hard rebooted it. Now it's showing charging sign. However it the percentage hasn't increase for almost 10 minutes now but then again I didn't charge it for over 2 weeks since the incident. I'll leave it on tonight and see.

So the digitalizer goes inside/underneath the LCD?

PS: Mr. Happy, it's for a BB addict girl Lolz.
