eWallets are no where close to an anonymous decentralized virtual currency and this breach had nothing to do with eWallets at all.
You won't need to worry about bitcoin. It won't ever become a mainstream thing. As these breaches become more common, people will move away from using the system. Any expansion to the system to try and push it mainstream will be blocked and regulated by the government.
Also, any legitimate U.S. based eWallet services are HEAVILY regulated by the government and various payment organizations. They are fairly secure and in the case of the very very occasional breach, any card numbers stolen would be protected by the card networks/issuers who would absorb any monetary loss.
