Bind Setup Help

Hi,

I have installed bind in CentOS 6.3 as well Webmin.

VPS Received with 1 dedicated IP and i purchase another IP for NS2.

Created the new Master zone in Webmin and added all records.

ns1.domain.com 1.1.1.1
ns2.domaincom 1.1.1.2

already added into Domain registrar. restarted named service as well reboot VPS. waited more then 40 hours But still not see any effect on domain. even i can ping to 1.1.1.1 but not ping to domain.com.

When i perform "nslookup domain.com". it return with

;; Got SERVFAIL reply from 8.8.8.8, trying next server

;; Got SERVFAIL reply from 8.8.8.8, trying next server
;; connection timed out; no servers could be reached

according to support i need to Add DNS entry in ifcfg* file. i found the file in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0

ifcfg-eth0 file contains the following:

DEVICE="eth0"
BOOTPROTO="static"
BROADCAST="255.255.255.255"
DNS1="1.1.1.1"
DNS2="1.1.1.2"
GATEWAY="1.1.1.0"
DOMAIN="domain.com"
HWADDR="00:0C:29:DA:31:F7"
IPADDR="1.1.1.1"
NETMASK="255.255.255.0"
NM_CONTROLLED="yes"
ONBOOT="yes"
TYPE="Ethernet"

In /etc/resolv.conf file have the following

search domain.com
nameserver 8.8.8.8
nameserver 1.1.1.2
# Generated by NetworkManager


Please note, if i remove 8.8.8.8 in resolv.conf file so my VPS won't resolve anything on internet even updates and its automatically back if removed google DNS from file after vps restart.


Please check the above configuration, and tell me if anything wrong. and guide more.

Please note, i got this VPS totally unmanage. and IPTABLES/SELinux is active. i already added 53 tcp port in iptables as well disable the iptables but nothing help. but i have not checked with SeLinux.

Furthermore
Make sure the following files have exact content as shown below
resolv.conf

nameserver 8.8.8.8
nameserver 8.8.4.4

Rest is in tutorial above .......if you messed up with any file and don't have backup , i suggest you to do a server reinstall and then use the tutorial i have given above and you should be successful

I already saw that Tut before and followed. but no luck was.

@Ifirst, this Tut is much simple. but i see this today. unfortunately hosting provider done the job by downgrade my OS from 6.3 to 5.8 centos. and configure the in this version.

but i will try this in future if required. thanks for help.
