Probably not necessary, but wont bother me. I have avatars turned off. The only thing I think about them is that they will be flashy and annoying. Kinda like with myspace people can add music and stupid backgrounds, but on facebook you cannot. Its less annoying.

This is web master forum. we are hear to learn not play with animated avatar or something else just have a simple one want to share it post a thread and it will be annoying when reading thread , etc

That's why I suggested respected members only as majority of respected members wont abuse the option as majority of them are mature.

EDIT: You can also disable avatars if it annoyed you that much.
