Hi all ... I was wondering if there's any tool/software available which you can give your files' links, and then it keeps monitoring them and notifies you if any file(s) has been deleted due to any reason ..

This would really be helpful as we won't have to manually check all the links ..

I didn't mean that it montors them *all* the time ... You could set an interval of say, check every 10 minutes and so on ... Should do do-able .. Not an impossible task ..

on 300000 links, every 10 minutes? lol

It's not like link checking can be done that fast on so much links, so, basically, it would be all the time. One go wouldn't finish, another would start....

Firstly, I for one don't have 300,000 links .. :P

Yes, with 300,000 links I can imagine it might be a problem .. But with like 2000 ~ 3000 links (half of which I might have right now), I don't think it would be difficult to code up a checker ..

u go to filehost, check deleted files,
the ones that are deleted are dead links,
all others work.

Peace of cake

Yeah I guess that's another way to do this, but a software checker sitting in the system tray would have been better .. ;)

I could create a script to do that, should be easy. Although one central system for all users/uploaders would be a pain in the ass - what with the computing power required to check them all, time and time again. So the script would basically have to be used by the end user (install on host, input links, etc).

I think filehosts will start to ban you if check so many links every x minutes.
Filesonic times out when you try to check too many links. It's annoying.

You can write a script (link checker bot) on php
Then send an email to notify the user if there is any dead link
Also, you can set it as cron task so it automatically checks your link

Can you guys code this up in php ? ... I dont know much web programming so I'm at a loss here ..

And it doesn't have to check every 10 minutes .. It can even been an hour or two ..

The thing I really wanted was some automatic process, and not something which necassarily checked that often ..

Jdownloader is really the best checker. It's not auto though but pretty close. Just select all files you wanna check and copy. It'll then check all files.
