Advice to all Webmasters about links

Yesterday I released a WCDDL Module and one of it's features is it checks for a backlink but it also checks the backlink for nofollow. While testing with an old DDL Database almost half the sites (409) with a backlink use the nofollow as nobody ever checks for it.

Some people do this for their own benefit but others do it by accident when they install some SEO modules and plugins on their website.

A nofollow link to your site isn't much use. You want Google and other search engines to follow the link so insist they remove the nofollow from your backlink if that's what you want. For example Katz and MechoDDL used to automatically check and ban websites who added the nofollow to the backlink.

You also want to consider this if your doing link exchanges with other webmasters and want GoogleBot to flow. You maybe sending them page rank but they not be returning it. Play fair.

The auto whitelist mod I have will check and if it is nofollow it will show as no linkback and won't be whitelisted.

I'm still checking for backlinks the old fashion way, checking the source code and whitelist them manually. lol

There are so many people applying for whitelist on my ddl, has a no-follow back link. When I ask to remove no-follow link, Most of them didn't even know they had it on.

@c0rrupt do you got the auto whitelist module for wcddl v3? If you do, will you share it? Thanks.

Check your code again. The third site on the home page of your site cafeddl is Warez Home which is rated 5 stars but has a nofollow backlink. Don't want to link directly as it's warez so here's a screenshot.

The topic was to highlight how so many warez sites use nofollow including your sites. The easiest way of getting a large list of active warez sites who exchange links is via a DDL Database. The amount of people or the type of people who use DDL sites has absolutely nothing to do with this topic.

Lots of websites link exchange with each other in various ways who this topic is aimed at.

DDL's doesn't just suddenly die when Megaupload is down you know..
And when Phazeddl is down, many other doesn't see it as the end of DDL. They see a new opportunity to get higher and bigger.

A no follow link to your site from another site does not help you with search engines/PR.

Jass, the nofollow thing is a total step of a retard and more over, the comment you just made of not removing it proves the first claim I did on you of being a retard.

When you are wanting some traffic for your warez to get downloads, learn to give some thing in return.

I hope the new admin of CafeDDL will ban you from their ddl.

On topic: Happy, you have made such a great deal of work easy. The DDLs fall in the eyes of Google a lot, just because of things like these

Yes, You are quite right. No doubt backlinks gain some business but it is not followed by google, so it is always right to remove no follow option form the link.

All ddl started this rule of nofollow after katz.

Just to clarify Katz wasn't the first to check for the nofollow. Yes they were the first with a lot of features but not this. It's just they were the biggest and therefore given credit. Same way some people think Apple's Siri was the first voice activation app. It wasn't. It was just the first mainstream one and done well so get's huge credit.
