Their are loads of things considered and I'm not the one that makes the decesion but I have noticed something happening a lot more than usual lately that I want to draw attention to that greatly affects and improves your chances on becoming Respected here on WJunction.

Their are a lot more new members joining WJunction daily and it's great to see the community grow. With that comes less experienced members. I would expect more experienced members to be able to help these new members. In the last few hours for example two topics were created. The first was 'What is Rapidleech and leaching' and the second was 'What is Katz'.

Now pretty much everyone here knows the answer to them but instead of helping the new members who openly admitted they were new, they were made fun of for asking such 'dumb' questions or they were given useless answers which were of no help.

Smart and funny comments are good to see from time to time and what makes a community enjoyable but please try and give the answer to the question as well and not just poke fun at new or less experienced members.

The "what is rapidleech," did get a fairly poor response, but the "what is katz," went okay. One smart-ass response in both.

People get annoyed when everything a user needs to know is in a sticky, or a simple google/wikipedia search will give them more information then they could get here. No reason to get in a new field if you do not want to take the time to run some searches and read up on tools you may be using in the future to get some basic knowledge.

I'm not condoning calling new users dumb though.

PS: I don't think many users will help others just to get a red (I believe it's red) name on a forum. You either want to help others, or you don't.

Infractions for bullshit (i.e. deliberately unhelpful) replies would encourage such unwelcoming members from running out new members who have honest questions. Show of such forum behavior will continue until decorum is demanded.

It's unfortunate a moderator locked the thread rather than delete the useless replies. The only conclusions is, bad behavior is tolerated (i.e. not punished) and decorum is not demanded.

Why?
1. The bad replies are left to stand.
2. The thread has been locked, as if the question has been fully answered.
3. Good members, with honest and substantive information for the OP, cannot reply and therefore be of help.

So basically, there's a locked thread with a big question (What is Katz) and there is bullshit information in it. :|

I'm going to be more strict about poor responses.

If you do feel that a reply is poor or not needed, please report it and staff will delete the uselss post and consider an infraction.

Well since the thread is up and has gone good thus far as in replies I thought I would add on. Remember nothing is set in stone, however based on what ive seen.

- Posting Quality vs Quantity. Yes you probably heard this before and it is really a simple fact. If your making 20 posts in a day, however all have no meaning or are useless in reality it is wasted space on the server. Instead try to make 2 or 3 quality posts. The time spent will be the same, however you will give a lot more back to wjunction then flooding it with useless things. Yes you can't always be serious, if you were the forums would be really boring so once in a while add in some fun, however make it good fun still at a mature level.

- Help when can! As Mr Happy Said there was two threads which most of the experienced or people who have been here a while could of answered. Although there are bad apples, every once in a while you will get a really great informative member sign up. If he sees no one else helping, why should he share stuff? Based on some of the polls I have seen the members here are suppose to have knowledge in many of the areas where people have questions, yet it is normally the same guys always replying.

I have many more points but if I write 2 much it will lose interest so I shall leave it at those two points for now.

edit - Also wanted to mention on the reply of members = respected members. Will yes we are all equal, all humans are. The rank has meaning now that there are no one trolling in the group. It really points out the ones who have done a lot for wjunction and get rewarded and noticed. Don't take this wrong way, there are tons who get recognized for contributing. The list of people who are under consideration is huge! However members like Mr Happy who are always helping everyone with any kind of problem, or the endless hours whoo and Loget put into building wj from a staff point of view will always be of a higher level when it comes to wjunction then a normal member.

Ok people i really dont get this whole respected thing and wanting to be respected so bad like, its just a different color name really,i honestly dont think it means anything as well it does nothing really just a differnt color really, cant see what the fuss is about.Thats my opionon any way.

+1 .............

That's true DJ Mad. I just had the intention of trying to encourage people to help each other more particularly new members and tried to use the rank as an incentive.

Yea but this whole respected group is kinda false advertising cause im not gonna respect some one just cause there in a group,im respect people for themselfs and not being part of some group, its just sad to see people wanting to be respected so bad,at the end of the day this is the internet and being respected on here wont get you very far in real life.

You are right DJ Mad, you dont respect someone from the colour, however for the most part the people that would be in the group are respected from wjunction community as a whole. Basically as mr happy said, the more you contribute in a professional manner the more benefits. Getting more pm space, ect. Yes you could be right, being respected on here could not get you far in life, or could it? Respected section already has really good content that could change your life. :P

The point behind the thread is to get members to help more, nothing else :D

Well, obviously I ain't interested in advertising myself as the respected member, but what about ethical and moral values? A man is down, gotta offer the helping hand instead of laughing at how he fell.

This is what I have observed in WJ that many users just want to have fun, though it makes me laugh my head off. I am one of those too who like to pick on noobs sometimes, but at a mature level, yes.

Basically, so many members just like to abuse, what a kiddish way to express your anger, really! It just surprises me that a user with 1000+ posts is abusing someone just because someone stole his panties from his wardrobe, or someone pulled his pants off infront of everybody! That didn't even happen, this means many abusing goes off unnecessarily or without any reason.
