Well, after five harsh frustrating hours I've created my first website design (full). I need to start building up my portfolio for school in a view months. What do you guys think of it? After looking at it from a different point of view I think I could work a lot more on my text. But the hell with it, I'll take more time with text on my next piece!

I don't know mate. It's not bad but it's missing something. The color combination is nice I have to say :)

Try to work more on your fonts, as you said in your post.
Work on the header too.

But not bad for a first design, keep it up ;)
 
Froomple, its okay. Its not like he is selling his design or something. He is learning and is asking for motivation from others. Let the guy get motivated and learn new skills. This is how initially everyone learns; by copying things. We will surely slap the entire copyright thing when he gets ready to sell his first template :D. Till then, just help him with the new resources and motivate the lad.

I never demotivated him, i just pointed the source he used. Also, i can't see any difference between the psd provided by tutsplus and his design, he swapped a few images and changed a few font styles.. Its good for learning. I never said its wrong.. He could have said that "he read it from a tut and developed it" or any such thing, instead of calling it as his 1st design xD..
Hope you understand and yeah, you know about me, I'd love to encourage people. :)
 
lmao yea. I just saw the complete images now. Hate going off the limit of Airtel connection. I am downgraded to 256kbps. :| Images load like old school hacking movies. 1 pixel at a time.

Obviously I followed the tutorial.
 
switch it up a bit, try changing colors, change fonts, add some parts of your own and take parts away, that's how i learned to do website templates anyways, PSD's are helpful, just don't do what other do an try to sell them :P not saying you would do that though, good work anyways for following it and it turning out how it did.
