Someone is trying to make money behind your back.
That server is from 100tb.com
Raid 0 is an additional option which costs 50 USD p/month.
Which makes it a total of 251.15 USD p/month
Without Raid 0 it will be 201.15 USD p/month

I have been looking for an 100TB RDP but I couldn't find one. The one I found was discontinued. So yes, I really want to team up on this.

I have experience with Windows Server management. I actually have managed several servers before so, it's an easy thing if there's people who's interested to team up.

But to lower down the price for each user, I think we should give the 1st one a try.

Quad Core Xeon 3220 2.4GHZ
8GB DDR RAM
2x 500GB SATAII
100TB BW
1 Gig
Windows 2008

This is $201.15 but assuming it to $210, each person will pay $26/month (8 users)

Anyone think that's good? Or interested in fewer users? If yes we can do the followings.

$35/month (6 users)
$53/month (4 users)

etc. I've been with 100TB before. Their servers are great. I get good upload speeds to many file hosts and even the europe hosts give great speeds so I'm really interested in teaming up with some of you.

My max budget is $40/month

This is interesting, I like LEVAC109's ideas. Either the 8-user or 6-user would interest me, but I'd have to think about it first. Currently have my hands on 2x 100mbit dedis, so I will have to wait for one to expire in order to try this out - I'd really like to try a Gbit box, even if it is shared.

If it ever looks like this plan might happen, shoot me a PM and I'll let y'all know if I'm in or out.

Yes, I do want a well managed server too. For that, I think we should discuss what we must do to protect it.

PM me your MSN if you're interested.

I'd be interested if you did like 10 users, since with only 10 users you maybe have a small chance of 3-4 users on at the same time?

I know for rl having 35 users only 2-3 were online at the same time regularly and every now and then maybe 5-6

need it cheepish since its just for torrents and upload/download

well its really good idea but i don't know about 100tb is it worth it

i mean for a month really u need a 100tb bandwidth for 6 or 8 users ?

and for the storage how much for each user ?

and about the apps on the server we need to discuss about it

if the speed will be good and fair for torrent upload and a goos storage for each user im in if there is any available seat :)

But who shut downs or close all running applications when they're not on? Even users aren't online, they leave torrents and other stuff running from their accounts - which also counts in CPU. So we have to assume that everyone is online when calculating. This way I think we can assure a quality RDP.

@saroo5, we cannot modify that 100TB b/w. It's like a fixed amount given by the ISP and it's really cheap. You can do a lot of stuff with that.

Just a note, be careful with torrents no softlayer. You get caught and can't supply proof the user has been kicked off. You will have your server IP's null rooted. 100TB is awesome but they are strict

torrents use minimal cpu the main thing they use is ram

but I didn't know softlayer doesn't allow torrents, so nvm need a rdp that allows them

users won't be encoding when they aren't on, so an background proccesses will be small like running utorrent wont take much, or a file uploader etc.

it's not a single core pentium

maybe should go with another dc/server provider
