Have you tried a spyware and malware program and did you check for rootkits? You would be better going in safe mode and doing it all and cutting your net off whilst you do

Just google the IP and do a check on spam lists to see if it is listed, that is the best thing you can do really, google may pull up a domain that has used it before and sometimes with a whois check you can see hosted sites on the ip, depends though how long since it was used
