WOW an old socket 478 , anyhow if my memory is correct they had a built in sound card. If so disable and install a PCI sound card as that board had like 4 or 5 pci slots . As the most likely thing is either the chip or a capitator is faulty as that board is like 6 to 10 years old.

Simple get rid of vista home , it was the real pain . Either upgrade to something like ulimate or windows 7 or downgrade to xp pro as Vista Home was a pain like Win me. There is plenty of good copies on warez sites.

One bit of advice don't get cocky with then, as they have now banned me for false clicking which was a load of bs but I appealed and still lost. So down the drain went $180.00 they owned me.
