Hi guys,

We currently use our own private HLS infrastructure across our own websites and have a library of 50,000+ videos, growing daily. Most of the content is available in 1080p and focused on high-demand categories.

We’re considering turning it into an embed/API platform instead of keeping it private only.

Before doing that, I’d like to ask:

- Is there actual demand for this type of service?
- Would a thread about it be allowed in this forum if posted in the right section?
- Would people prefer public API access, reseller access, or private premium access?
- What matters more here: uptime, HLS speed, embed stability, API simplicity, or pricing?

Just looking for honest market feedback before deciding whether to launch it publicly or keep.

Thanks.

Real demand exists, but the answer depends on what you actually sell:

- Embed-only = you keep the SEO. Webmasters get traffic that loops back to your domain. Easy to launch, but serious operators won't buy long-term because they can't rank their own pages.

- API + self-hosted thumbs/metadata = the buyer ranks their pages, you supply the stream. Higher price ceiling, but you need clean structured metadata (titles, tags, categories, models, durations, screenshots) — that's where most "content as a service" plays fail.

- Reseller / white-label = real money, but you're now in the support business.

Also, I may be miss-understanding but in all seriousness what would you be offering that possible users could get for free? (depends on the nature of the videos)
