Hey guys,

I have a one 2GB ram and one 1GB Ram of same speed...

and one more 1GB and one 2GB ram.. but of different speed to each other and the other 2 rams..

So is it better to keep the same speed ram of 3GB or should i make it 6GB?

Any help would be appriciated...

Thanks..

Are you running out of RAM when using your PC?

Same speed is better than different speed.

Not really, the "faster" RAM will just be down-clocked by the motherboard to match the other RAM to avoid issues. If he is running out of usable RAM on a regular basis he is FAR better off using mismatched RAM then using HDD page file...way better off.

I have used mismatched size and frequency RAM for few month, no visible problems.
But to be in a better side, use Same Speed RAM's.

Well.. My problem is this...

I had a Dual Core processor and 2GB ram before...

and i used to play games without any problem..

Now i have a Core 2 Duo processor and 6GB RAM.. the games start finely.. but gets laggy after 2-3 min... this is with different speed RAMs...

More slow RAM is better than less fast RAM.
It's not like you can visually see the difference in RAM speed, those are just marketing tricks to make you buy more expensive shitz.
But you can see the speed difference, when you run out of RAM, and HDD, which is 100x slower than RAM, starts swapping like mad, slowing down everything.

So yeah, 6GB is WIN.

Btw, stick your slower RAM first. If your BIOS have an option, downclock all RAM modules one by one on same Mhz value.

So whats the reason for all games getting laggy?

Starts off good.. but gets slow after a while.. :/ I played these games before i upgraded ram.. :(

SystemRequirementsLab says i meet requirements..

It could be several issues, like, overheating CPU or RAM or GPU...for example. Slowing down, without crashing either suggests on swapping or overheating.

Try cancelling swap file completely from windows, and then check.

Well i tried after disabling the page file.. It didnt make any difference.. Still starts well.. gets laggy after 2-3 minutes..

Thats my temp... So is over heating the problem?

Well, its silly for some, and genuine for few,
Do you use AntiVirus, many of the AV slows down a bit while you are playing games, but may not the case with all of them, there can be reverse of this as well.
And can be a cause of your games slowdown, but this is just speculation.

BTW there can be some more reasons like:-
A fragmented Drive.
Power management problem (Too odd)
Overloaded processes on your CPU (Many unnecessary ones).
Lower down the Graphics details of the game.
Some other parallel running process which is putting stress on GPU.
Check GPU setting's, maybe reset it.

Provide your GPU detail plus is it a 32bit OS or 64 bit.

Well.. It seems its not a problem with RAM.. i removed the other speed rams and kept my new RAMS with same speed.. but it didnt change anything....

The problem started with the Upgrade and New Windows..

I only upgraded my Processor to Core 2 Duo from Dual Core... Same Graphics Card...

And i had 32bit windows 7 before.. Now i am using 64bit Windows..

Its same with High Graphics and Even Low Graphics settings... Both starts well but gets laggy after a while...

No unnecessary stuff is running.. I even tried with Game Booster which terminates useless stuff..

I am using Microsoft Security Essentials as AV...

By GPU Settings you mean? Nvidia CP ?

So whats the problem here ? The games are still getting laggy after a while.. Any solution would be appriciated.. (y)

Well.. Just realized that the fan in Graphics Card is not working... :o

Finally found out the problem!! The Graphics card temperature is over 100'C... :/

So as it's temp goes up the games get laggy...

I dunno why the GPU fan isnt working... Is it because i am using a motherboard which has 24 pin ATX Power connection port with a 20 pin power supply? Can this be the reason?

It also comes down to your system. The BIOs version. And mobo build.
