Screwed by a hosting company

Hi,

I purchased a shared hosting plan from webthosting a couple of weeks ago. Because of frequent downtimes I decided to leave. I paid the whole year (since it was the only option). They also promised a 30-day-money back guarantee. I requested a cancellation and ask them to refund my money. It was5 days ago,and no words from them since then. Even their site has been down for days now.
Is their a way to get my money back, or it just seems to be another lesson to learn from my mistake?

webthosting has one of the worst reputations in this forum. and I have seen this too often, someone requests for a refund and they fail to pay it or reply. pm bentlink on this forum, and if he still fails to refund, report to an admin who will lock his thread for being a scam hoster.

Wait a bit through before claims to paypal/creditcard, or you will not receive any moneyback stated on "WebThosting' TOS you need to wait 7 days for a refund.

The site is down and most likely you'll have problems getting a refund. Paypal doesn't like people with digital items as much as people that get things shipped with Ebay. Try using a paypal debit card or a payment processor like 2checkout so that you can file a chargeback.

I have been scammed out of webthosting and also check out DP Forums for members who have faced similar. As someone correctly said, pay peanuts, expect monkeys.
I had paid for a year too, and after having the first downtime in the first hour, and subsequent downtime's of almost 36 hours per week for 2 weeks, I decided to cancel my plan. As I had read of previous customers not being refunded for using bad language, I kept away from using any myself. Just wanted to get my money back and go looking for another host. I sent a polite email asking for cancellation of service and a refund. All I got was a cancellation of my account and no refund; its almost 2 months now...

i think thats bullshit something should be done about this, so they carnt rip of any more people, they are nothing more than theifs in my eyes.

there thread should be deleted and banned from advertising there shitty service.

dtommy if i was you id haunt them every were they got a thread to offer hosting u reply with your story.

maybe they give your money back worth a shot man.

I wouldn't go as far as saying they are scammers, just not very organized!

Try WRZHost. Unlike the other companies they give you your money back. I can vouch for them 100% as can a few other friends of mine.

Most companies which offer 1 year plans are known to be ''scammers'' (That's just my opinion). You shouldn't leave the offshore hosting for good, you just need to pick the right company. HostBeyond was voted No.1 by WJ Members on last months Host of the Month contest. You should go with them if you decide to stay with offshore hosting.

Also, If they don't refund maybe dispute the payment? @ WarezNode.
