Hello, WJ. I am an RDP businessman lolz. I sell thread is here if you haven't know me or about my service. I have been doing RDP for quite a long time now and I just created this thread because I just want to share some of my experience on RDP's performance based on the location of the RDP (server).
I know there are many people who don't know how the much the location of the RDP can affect your satisfaction. So before you going on angry with the seller with a random thing in your head, please kind consider reading this and it must be that you bought it wrong, you bought something you wasn't looking for and it's nobody's fault etc.
So, mostly I'll explain about the pros and cons.
If your RDP is located in US
--1 Gbps server
FileServe.com -> 5 - 100MB/s
FileSonic.com -> 5 - 50MB/s
HotFile.com -> 1 - 20MB/s
FileFactory.com -> 1 - 20MB/s
MegaShares.com -> 5 - 50MB/s
MediaFire.com -> 5 - 20MB/s
Megaupload.com -> 300 - 500KB/s (desktop upload) & 1 - 15MB/s (multifetch remote upload)
Uploading.com -> 1 - 5MB/s
Netload.in -> 1 - 20MB/s
RapidShare.com -> 1 - 10MB/s
Torrents (Good private trackers) -> 1 - 40MB/s down & 1 - 10MB/s up
Usenet (10+ connections) -> 10 - 30MB/s
--100 Mbps server
similar everything as above except assume the maximum speed won't exceed 12MB/s
If your RDP is located in EU (Germany, Netherland, France, Sweden, Russia, UK)
--1 Gbps server
FileServe.com -> 1 - 7MB/s
FileSonic.com -> 1 - 7MB/s
HotFile.com -> 1 - 3MB/s
FileFactory.com -> 1 - 20MB/s
MegaShares.com -> 1 - 2MB/s
MediaFire.com -> 1 - 2MB/s
Megaupload.com -> 300 - 500KB/s (desktop upload) & 1 - 5MB/s (multifetch remote upload)
Uploading.com -> 1 - 15MB/s
Netload.in -> 1 - 30MB/s
RapidShare.com -> 1 - 40MB/s
Torrents (Good private trackers) -> 1 - 100MB/s down & 1 - 80MB/s up
Usenet (10+ connections) -> 10 - 30MB/s
--100 Mbps server
similar everything as above except assume the maximum speed won't exceed 12MB/s
These are the range of speeds you should expect depending on the location. If you bought a US server and expected a lot of seeding speeds or fast upload speed to rapidshare.com then you probably not trying to understand the situation. Currently I haven't experience a hosting with gigabit (100MB/s) speeds all around the world. I've tried FDCServers.net, Gigenet.com, Giga-International.com, 100TB.com, OVH.co.uk, NetDirekt.de, Leaseweb.com, net100tb.com, rapidspeeds.com.
If you want me to test some more file hosts, I can do it. Just reply in the comment.
Thank you for reading.
