Google PR, what's the fuss?

I can't for the life of me figure why people are so damn obsessed with Google PR. It doesn't affect your SERP's, nor does it affect the traffic you receive from Google (through past experience on WarezScene, I received more whilst I was PR3, than PR4).

So I'm interested, why do you care about PR? :)

Rank, people like ranks. An example is on WJ, tons of people beg for "Respected Webmaster" but it doesn't really do anything...
 
Yea, as Loget said, people beg for the Trusted Rank, but still they scam whilst they are in the Trusted group, so basically it does not makes any sense.
 
ya i agree with RK.. any site tht has a higher PR .. chances are they wont LE with any lower or PR n/a or PR0 sites.. wanna LE with a PR2 site Ultima? lol j/k
 
PageRank is Google's way of deciding a page's importance. It matters because it is one of the factors that determines a page's ranking in the search results. It isn't the only factor that Google uses to rank pages, but it is an important one.

Totally not true. Google is phazing out the whole PR (Page Rank) as can be seen by it's removal from the Google Toolbar and the webmasters area of their site. It has no effects on your SERP (Search Engine Results Page) or how much traffic you get from Google.

What's even more interesting is the reason why Google is phazing out the whole PR. While Larry Page developed it and who the system is named after he or Google don't own the patent or copyright to the system. It's owned by the University where he studied and developed the system which is Stanford University. Google have the exclusive rights to the system but these exclusive rights will end soon and everyone will be able to use the PR system. That's why Google is phazing it out and creating their own better system so they'll still be on top and superior when their licence runs out.

On October 14, 2009, Google employee Susan Moskwa confirmed that the company had removed PageRank from its Webmaster Tools section. Her post said in part, "We’ve been telling people for a long time that they shouldn’t focus on PageRank so much; many site owners seem to think it's the most important metric for them to track, which is simply not true."
 
TBH, I don't care or know much about it - I just post mine in threads that ask what others are. xD

Never really cared to learn about Google and its webmaster tools.
 
I too am interested in knowing the answer of this question : "why do you require people with only PR3 ?" whats the "Fuss" or should i say the "Niggle" ?
 
I think PageRank is still the most important factor when it comes to page importance, and i think its the best way to measure the Backlinks and quality backlinks . Anyway PR is still one of the 200 factors that can affect how your site is crawled, indexed and ranked.

Why are you selling then links at wjunction and you say : 'STRONG PR4 BACKLINK' and it doesn't matter?
