Hi guys, I bought a dedicated server(Windows Server 2008 R2) from HostDzire, now I want to setup wordpress on this server. I did some googling about it and downloaded Microsoft Webmatrix and installed wordpress(It automatically installed PHP,Mysql etc.). Now I can access the site by http://localhost/wordpress/

My questions are :

1.Have I done it the right way, will I have any problems? or could I have done it by any other better way which would ensure my site's safety and other things.

2.Before I bought this server, I had a blog by wordress on a different server, how do I import the database in Webmatrix(Cause it's not showing any existing database)?

3.How do I add a .com domain and make the site public?

4.Will I need a control panel(like you get on shared hostings) for managing my site better?

Do not be so harsh on him. Especially if you have no idea.
While it is recommended that a Webserver runs on Linux, it is not limited to Linux. A Windows host can also run a perfectly functioning Webserver. You might have heard of XAMPP or WAMP. I recommend these Applications as they are an All-in-one package with everything you need.
You also need to set up some DNS, try using a Free DNS provider.

Google is your friend for everything ;)
Hint: Google for "Webserver on Windows Server" and leave Wordpress out of the equation for now.
