It would have helped if you took care of correct linking.

It took over 10 minutes to upload a 48MB file. Very slow.(on a 1Mbs upload connection).

What type of files can I upload?

You mean 1Mbs = 1 Megabits ?
48 Megabyte need 6.5 minutes to upload on 1 Megabits connection
