RLSLOG Threatened By NZBMatrix Shutdown Lawyers, Promises Change

RLSLOG, one of the Internet's most prominentfile-sharing "release blogs," has announced a significant change in the way it will operate in future. The site, which was recommended by the RIAA for inclusion on the USTR's "notorious markets" list, says it was contacted by the same law firm that took down NZBMatrix and is taking their threats seriously. This could lead to all 3rd-party links being withdrawn.

Due to the site's clear format, attention to detail and longevity, millions of Internet users visit RLSLOG every month.

The site provides information on new content availability in the popular "release blog" format and covers all the main categories including movies, music, TV shows, games, eBooks and software.
Like all large file-sharing related domains RLSLOG has had its share of legal threats. It has been taken offline temporarily in the past due to complaints from outfits such as the Web Sheriff and record label Universal, and was reported to the USTR by the RIAA.

RLSLOG has always recovered, but this month the site has something apparently much bigger on its mind. According to the site's operator, RLSLOG has received a threat of legal action from the same law firm that has just taken down NZBMatrix on behalf of the major Hollywood studios.

"I can tell you the company is called Wiggin LLC, the same that forced NZBmatrix to shutdown," RLSLOG's admin informs TorrentFreak."Wiggin represent most movie studios. They asked us to remove all movie and TV shows represented by these companies."

RLSLOG told us that the studios estimated that around 94% of all content listed by the site is material to which they own the copyright, an amount RLSLOG contests.

Although NZBMatrix have provided a few details on the threats made to them, largely they have remained quiet. However, it does appear that the threats they received are similar in nature to those now being received by RLSLOG.

"RLSLOG has always cooperated with DMCA requests, it's just the fact we haven't received so many of them in the past, lets say 10 or 15 per month, because we do not host the content, we just inform about it and post some links," says the site's admin.

"But Wiggin didn't want us to remove particular posts/pages like its common with other DMCA requests but rather the whole thing. We are still in the process of negotiating."

While discussions continue, RLSLOG have already taken the first step towards satisfying the studios.
Say, for example, RLSLOG announced that movie X or TV show Y was made available online today, they would post up an article including a link or two of their own to where they could be found. However, underneath the news article would be a section where site users could make their own comments, which in recent times mainly consisted of people posting dozens of links to the content on different file-hosting sites.

The site's operator says he has taken the decision to remove these comments sections on every movie and TV show post to eliminate links to 3rd party sites hosting the content.
For now, the changes only affect the movie and TV show sections, but it is possible that the changes could spread to other parts or indeed all of the site, depending on how things pan out in the future.
"We started like that, not posting any download links, and it is possible we'll return to this model," the site's admin concludes.

this is really a bad bad news...

For which Reason?!

The site is High Overrated i dont understand why its so popular maybe its the High Alexa Rank but its no Problem to Fake the Alexa Rank in 1 week you can be in first 100 if you really know some ways how to do it.

However back to topic,

Very Good news becouse rlslog stop comment posting and how you can read in the comments 3-4 new sites will popup new.

So who wins RIA or the 1 site that will stop Comment Posting?!or the 2-4 new sites that will go online evryday?!

Lets see how long this stupid People will need to Understand that the Web is Free.

If the Copyright holders find now way to protect the own stuff for sharing in the Web its then the Copyright Holders Problem not from the Guy with the Cam in the Kino :pirate:

Regards

rlslog it's a good site since a lot of time. you can find everything important that comes from the scene.

Maybe 3-4 years ago it was good.........the site is Full of Advertising Shit now and how i say before Use the Power of Google and you will find much better alternatives as this site.

Regards

rlslog it's a good site since a lot of time. you can find everything important that comes from the scene.

However, Rlslog is still very overated.
There are thousands of other websites which are better ... Many others provide more links, many others don't have adverts, and many others are faster with the news.

Rlslog is just basically one of the early ones and most well known. But by far isn't the best anymore.

It's a shame to see websites being threatened by these big corporations, but still, like Deadmau5 said above, they will shut down one, and 3 - 4 more will go online - or to be honest, even more.

How's it overrated with such high number of visitors over last few years? Stats are there to disprove you, not my words. See, if amount of visitors drops, alexa rank drops too. Their Alexa is 1,891. This is approx 250.000-400.000 daily visitors. Regarding download links, NO ONE have so many links like rlslog, because their COMMENTS are the place where to find links. Not to mention that rlslog is pioneer in this type on blogging, and everyone is copying them.

you can fake this without any problem with the right software.

I think not and iam 100% sure that they get never 250.000 Daily Real Visitors:)

you are right the site had a Huge Collection of Links in the Comments but that is now over and destroys the Reputation of the site. Its Sad for sure for the scene nothing more.

Regards :)

Not to mention that the majority of the links in the comments section are fakes, posted by all the "cash whores" claiming that their version of a certain film or whatever was better... but it turned out to be a film from 1950 lol.
This was back in the day when PPD was the main factor, not sure how the site is now, I haven't used it for about 2 years. The last time I visited I was bombarded with audio adverts and several pop ups. The main reason why I left and found an alternative.

Will their traffic go down once they implement this new system of posting no links - except in the comments?... probably not, other sites are already doing this, and still have an alexa rank of approx 14,000

Go test how many visitors that site have, by posting few links in comment section with some link with counter (bit . ly for example). You'll get the idea, how big that site is, regarding it's look and ads. why do you think they are targetting rlslog, and not some other warez site, like warez-bb ?

notice the "editors" links remain so this move is a big win for them but a massive loss for bottom feeders who post endless adly loops and suchlike. spammers even made automated post bots just for rlslog

all the lawyers have currently succeeded in doing is make the staff more money. amount of ip "protected" is zero
