every damn thing on heating expands in this univ..but to their respective tendencies limited to their linear coefficient of expansion (α) ..metals do have hi coeff..so they sorta expand..on the contrary non metals have less (α) even tho their molecules are tightly bound together..they tend to break when heated uneven..as simple as that:)

Not true. Water is expanding when cooling. Also, glass doesn't get heated in microwave. Only organic material, that contains water molecules, get heated. (H2O gets boost in speed, moves faster, and heats) And, I don't think microwave can heat anything to that point in one minute, to cause this. It's not like 1 mm glas. Specially, because it is not closed type of dish, or with 90 degree angles. Your crystal/glass pot was probably already broken somewhere, and whatever you heated, could probably cause, what Phresh said, uneven heating, in case spinning of the dish stopped at some point. That is the only way to get uneven heating. But, also, MW oven heats things from inside, to outside, means, center of the food gets heated first, and then heat is passed to edges of food...mainly because most water molecules are contained in the middle, while edges tends to dry out, or keep less water...

It was not already broken
It had a semi liquid meal, the crack was at the place till the meal was filled
I think maybe this disk was thin for this
N from direct cold to heat this happened
