Astronomers on Monday announced the discovery of 50 new planets circling stars beyond the sun, including one super-Earth that is the right distance from its star to possibly have water.
If we are really, really lucky, this planet could be a habitat like Earth, said Lisa Kaltenegger of the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy in Heidelberg, Germany.

36 light-years

1 Light year = 9.268.992.000.000 km
In one year, with speed of 40.000km per hour ( real shuttle today travels with speed of 27870 km/h ) , we would travel 345.600.000 km
Would take us 26.820 years, to travel just one light year, or 965.520 years to reach there, or something to reach us with that speed... :)

this data is just approx, where measure for speed of light was 298.000 km/s ( I know its 299 792 458 m / s , so don't correct me :) )

... We're fucked lol xD

We have to find a way to go faster but again, we need to slow down too once we reach that place :P

don't worry it wont happen in our life time :sun:

I don't think it will ever happen...to reach those planets.
It's like saying time traveling is possible, and we will discover time traveling machine... Well, in case that is true, we would already see time travelers walking around, who came from future, wouldn't we?
Same with traveling near speed of light...we can't travel now, or ever will be traveling at that speed...
It's more likely that horn will grow on top of my dick, than finding wormholes which can be used for traveling... some scientists should be forbidden speaking in public.
Black hole, is remaining material after star goes boom in supernova. its the part of the matter that is so densed, that there is no space between the atoms. It is heavier than any other matter several millions of times, and one spoon of that matter would weight several millions of tons. That is why gravity of black holes is so strong, that can capture even light. There is no actual 'hole' into another dimension, or similar. (and can't actually be proven otherwise, because, once something gets near the gravity zone of black hole, cannot be reversed, and get out of it, so, no information can be ever gathered, rest of it is just an imagination) Rest of stories you saw on youtube, or tv shows, is just a merchandise for selling in public, a money maker....

Maybe there is a life, maybe they have better technologies than we have?=) Maybe iPhone 5 is history over there, and they have iP 72 =) Maybe they gonna visit us>_> Oh sorry they where visiting us all the times, but we couldn't prove that =)

'Maybe' is the keyword of something belonging to SF and imagination. And 'maybe' is what's selling the best, when you turn someone's imagination on fire...

Something must be scientifically proven as fact, to be accepted. At least that is how science works.

A horn on top of your dick? Nigga, you got some wild imagination.

lol, yeah, well, it's more probable that I will be influenced by radiation from new nuclear power-plant that is going to be built near me, so horn on that place sounds more real...

If time travelling did happen it would create an alternate universe therefore the time traveller would travel back to a different universe ergo time travel isn't completely out-ruled by scientists.

Every decision we make in our life in this current universe is the opposite to decisions made by ourselves in an alternate universe, every possibility is played out.

That's the multiverse theory anyway.

Oh, but...
Traveling into another universe would mean we should have a machine that have enough power to beat the speed of light by many times. which is another flawed concept...
As long as you have mass, you can't travel with speed of light...energy that is required to speed up rocketship for that is equal to energy of entire universe
I am not sure how their theory works, do other verses flow around in capsules, like soap balloons in air never touching each other, and each time frame (oscilation) have another universe?
Multiverse theory can't actually be proven, since we can't know if there is something beyond borders of our universe, or are there any borders, or is 'universe' our conception of space filled with matter...

Some questions will be left forever without a real proof, and will stay in 'theory' range...
I would put those in the same bin with concept of God, life after death, and other ... fairy tales for kids...

ah but who said anything about us going there?

its simple man, you bend space and let the planet come to us!

Rock n´ ROLL technique

Cool so even if it's "2nd earth" and even if we could move there, distance is way out of our reach. So unless they invent hyperspace (like in Star Wars) they can look for all these planets as much they want, it's in one way, waste of time.

God I love Michio Kaku.

hahhahahaha ! :))

Anyway , we can only hope that someone will come and destroy us >:)

theres actualy a theory that when your that close to the speed of light time slows down significantly, there for if we did this it would be less years then that.
