Viacom v YouTube Lawyer Joins Megaupload Legal Team

Posted: 06 Apr 2012 04:21 AM PDT

According to a report on CNET, Megaupload have made a very interesting addition to their legal team.

Andrew Schapiro, the lawyer who led YouTube to a summary judgment in its copyright trial against Viacom, has come on board and will assist Kim Dotcom and his co-defendants in their case against the US government.

Along with co-accused Mathias Ortmann, Bram van der Kolk and Finn Batato, Dotcom faces charges in the United States of racketeering, money-laundering and various copyright infringement offenses.

According to his profile on the website of Los Angeles-based Quinn Emanuel Urguhart & Sullivan lawfirm at which he is a partner, Andrew Schapiro has represented technology and media companies including Google, YouTube and Cablevision.

How will they do to pay all those high priced lawyers when they loose?

You have to understand that even if they are never brought to the US they will still be tried and most likely forfeit all the remaining impounded assets.

Legal cases have already started from some folk, including some American Media, demanding their data back from the US authorities,

I am aware of that and think those suits will fail due to all the data being evidence in a criminal trial. They may get it back some day but not any time soon.

Megaupload won't lose this case, that's why.

If it was Filesonic or Fileserve instead Megaupload, I'd have doubts but Megaupload is one of few good legit filehosts out there.

It was fast, reliable, barely any limitations and it was not offering any rewards, yeah It had affiliate program before but so did Rapidshare.
