hello

my server seems to have rebooted all by itself
dose win-server 2008 do that when resources get low or something ?

I have 20 RDP users but im the only admin
I was trying to chat with one of them in the server when I lost my connection to the server
a couple min later I got back in and it had rebooted
I sure didn't tell it to
I don't think anyone else can
auto update is turned off (and update record has last update back on the 5th)

my best guess is a resource triggered reboot (don't think it dose that though)
seemed to be working fine to me though
though there was a lot of ram in use but still not 30%

Update
I purchased an addon 2TB USB drive this-morning
didn't expect it to be added for a few days and didn't expect a reboot (kinda forgot all about it)
but ill bet they rebooted when adding it
it's added now to anyway

Although A DC can but it normally doesnt reboot a server by itself without prior permission from the server owner. Did you sign a form or a permission slip stating that could reboot the server to add the drive?

I got the server threw a reseller so didn't have direct contact with OVH about it
I was warned they may reboot but I dismissed it
no need to reboot when adding a USB drive (I have 2 of them at home)

but what ever the drive is working nicly that's the important thing

I hate rebooting a shared server
but in the end I had to reboot it myself 3-4 more time yesterday trying to get Deluge to work
and Deluge is still crash happy (im about ready to just give up on Deluge)

You could write a script or get someone to write on for you which runs every 1 second so if someone does tell the server to reboot it will abort but a reboot every 2 weeks to a month is always good
