Do you think your facebook, paypal and other sensitive information is safe with you? Read the shocking news by an American Spy Edward Snowden who has revealed many secrets of US government and currently seeking asylum in Russia. You can read more about him on Wikipedia Here.

Without him, we would not know how the National Security Agency (NSA) had been able to access the emails, Facebook accounts and videos of citizens across the world; or how it had secretly acquired the phone records of millions of Americans; or how, through a secret court, it has been able to bend nine US internet companies to its demands for access to their users' data.
.....
...

They tell us, for example, that no US-based internet company can be trusted to protect our privacy or data. The fact is that Google, Facebook, Yahoo, Amazon, Apple and Microsoft are all integral components of the US cyber-surveillance system. Nothing, but nothing, that is stored in their "cloud" services can be guaranteed to be safe from surveillance or from illicit downloading by employees of the consultancies employed by the NSA. That means that if you're thinking of outsourcing your troublesome IT operations to, say, Google or Microsoft, then think again.

I'd be amazed if Amazon and Ebay were not also being forced to hand over all their user data. We just haven't heard about it yet. Maybe Snowden doesn't want to harm global commerce by telling the world that nothing is private, not even the private data that they promise not to share with anyone.

Was curious about why "Snowden" is all over the net. So I googled couple of weeks ago & came to know about America's program to monitor everything what is on "net". He still has many things which he has not shared & is not willing to share for some reason. I wonder what can be more harmful then getting all your data including private emails monitored by Government agency.

Here is another story related to him:

Michael Hastings , A journalist, with a history of taking down major figures and royally pissing off the powers that be, sends an email to his editors warning them that federal agents have been interviewing his associates and that he has to go off-radar to finish a big story.

Assassinations and drone attacks kill journalists in United States (Los Angeles) who were about to blow up 9/11 myth by revealing irrefutable evidence handed over to them by Edward Snowden that American Intelligence Agencies were remotely controlling 9/11 aircrafts. Ex-US Presidents meet in Africa for a cover-up strategy and moving forward the destruction plan of Muslim states in middle east but Russia has refused to stay down and Russian Army has been ordered to prepare for large scale nuclear war. Thousands of bomb proof bunkers have been completed and more drills are being planned for near future.

Snowden will be killed by US if he steps out of Russia, that is the only country capable of protecting him. And if US tries to act smart - World War :|

9/11 - Everybody knows who did what.

What the hell is going on with US govt ??
Can't they just be happy and let everyone else be happy ?

Shitload of conspiracy theories are coming out on regular basis, and every single one is worst then before...

Does this mean that at the end of the day the internet is really owned by the US?

No, they are just able to get court orders from U.S. companies, but since google, facebook, amazon, yahoo, apple and microsoft are american companies they can monitor nearly everyone on the planet.

If more overseas companies get popular then the surveillance program wont be as strong

Lets break this down.

The government is logging all data.
That is a ton of data per second, let alone per day. You would need at least one person in every 5 on the planet to physically process that information. Furthermore, most of that information is stupid "im going to the shop" facebook comments, or instagram selfies. Pointless data.

There is no such thing as privacy.
The sheer volume of data is so much so that it is essentially useless unless used to target specific people. You can't actually do anything with that much data, its impossible to process it in such a way that will put you all into neat tidy categories. The data is essentially useless unless they are specifically targeting you. Then, and only then, is the data of any particular use.

We have the right to privacy
Yes you do. But then again, i'm not really worried about the internet looking at what i'm up to; I don't profess to be a harm against the greater good in life. It is also a breach of so many human right's laws, that it isn't useable in a court of law, unless I were intending on waging war of some kind - in which case they would seek the appropriate papers to allow it as evidence.

Lastly, I don't know about you, but I would rather my government know about when some rogue idiot is planning on blowing up my kid's school, or if some aeroplane is headed toward the building my father works at. You want the government to know this, to act on this, but you don't want them to monitor you. But hey - maybe YOU ARE the person that is planning this. How do we know? How do YOU know? People aren't born terrorists, they become terrorists.

So what you want is both protection and privacy. Not possibru. Stop worrying about thinking the government is logging your every move on pornhub, because they really aren't, and they really don't give a fuck about me or you. And even if they did, it's inadmissible in court unless you are a threat to the country.

What if hackers obtain the ability to see this data
Erm.. they already can, and have been able to since the dawn of time. Welcome to the internet.

Conclusion: No fucks given.

Hey,
Its because Snowden is seeking asylum from Russian and Russia's President has told Snowden that they can consdider providing
him asylum, provided he stops leaking out US's secrets.

He has been seeking asylum from quite a few countries including Hong Kong and India but guess Indian government turned down his request and US convinced India, that what they are doing is legal and ethical and the Indian government was "OK" with it :|

IMO Ed Snowden should be honoured for his efforts to reveal the truth to the people, not be treated in the way he has been.

The US government has bent laws and even created a special federal court to deal with anything that they don't want the public to know, all in an effort to twart terrorism. Yes, it's legal, but is it right? That's what Ed Snowden wanted to do - create a public discussion on whether this is the world we want - a world with no privacy. People in the government have verifiable links to people in energy companies, big pharma, insurance companies, national media, large corporations and more importantly the large banks. Just ask yourself - what else is this data useful for in the capitalist world?

These revelations have sparked questions from every aspect from personal privacy, attacks on journalism and terrorism to topics like insider information and the stocks market. These questions need answering, and all the government (and coincidentally, the American media) want to say about these revelations are: "Snowden is a traitor", "Snowden broke the law", "Snowden is a spy", etc.

What a fucked up world we live in, right?

Snowden has just made himself an Ace in russia's hands I dont know what US will do but i guess they will hire the russian mafia to kidnap the bloke for if they try to send their marines into Russia the world will break apart. [meh] rem Vladimir used to be KGB and weknow very well what KGB did to Uncle Sam during the cold war.

What I hate most is most of the Allies knew this, British, spain, germany sweden, austria, italy australia are all having their fingers in NSA's Cookie jar so the expected disappointment was not there.

I don't understand what the complaining is all about from you guys here on WJunction.

We are all capable of masking who we are online digitally, hiding behind VPN's as "Infoman" said or taking other precautionary steps. The internet is a continuously evolving beast, as new technology comes out and new monitoring tools are put in place, we have for the past 30 years continued to manipulate those tools and advance beyond the point of detection for some time.

I view this not as a negative, but as a positive. Firstly, this information isn't anything new. It's been public knowledge here in the United States that the Government has been monitoring all Facebook accounts, Google accounts, PayPal transactions and so on. It's common sense to know that they are reading emails and listening to phone calls, because they stuffed those laws in with Patriot Acts 1, 2 and 3.

So what can you do about it? You can start hiding behind a VPN, proxies. Stop using Cloud Services (as I have stressed to everyone since day one) and get back to the old fashioned boxes that you can purchase yourself, send to a DC and have it sitting on a rack that you know the location of. Can they get in? Sure they can, but it's not going to be already monitored.... If you're using a cellphone, get a non-residual (Pre-2006) so that way when you take the battery out, the towers are no longer pinging you. Stop using SKYPE, because it's the mother of all monitoring services for the United States (which is part of the reason why they pushed Microsoft's MSN messenger to merge into SKYPE) for text, video & voice. How do you think they really busted some Anonymous members?

Statements such as "there's going to be World War 3" is ridiculous, there isn't going to be World War 3 over Mr. Snowden. There's hundreds of Mr. Snowden's, it just so happens that he happened to make the news in this case. The rest have leaked far worse information that would never be televised and have been incarcerated under Homeland Terrorism acts.

The Government of the United States has the Media, the Internet and the Economy in their pocket. They've dumbed down almost 50% of the population here (and keep letting the Mexicans cross the border who can vote for them) to the point that they don't have a clue and just go with the flow of things. The American people are good people, the Government however has grown too powerful. We have entered a state where Patriotism means "Keeping Quiet".

Benjamin Franklin said it best numerous times....

"When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic."

"They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither safety nor liberty."

"This will be the best security for maintaining our liberties. A nation of well-informed men who have been taught to know and prize the rights which God has given them cannot be enslaved. It is in the religion of ignorance that tyranny begins."

"Rebellion to tyrants is obedience to God."

So I must re-iterate what I have said above in this short post. These things that you now know are just the tip of the iceberg. The United States is monitoring not only your digital movements, but also your physical ones. This government has built buyer personas on each and every single one of you. If you shop using your bank card or credit card it's all cataloged into a system that shows your traits and your routine, whether you drink, whether you smoke, a good way for them to figure you out and easily get into your mind, to brainwash you just a little bit more, to take another penny by more effective advertising, to (in a few more years) in the future jack up your health care rates if you are an excessive drinker/smoker based on your purchase history. This Government has mega satellites in the SKY that put Google Earth to shame, that not only can give you a street view of your house, but literally record every single movement throughout the day. If there's something they need to research, it's rewound, footsteps are traced, and they will track your next location. They can zoom in between blinds, they can see through roofs. Your Microwaves (even though Manufactured by China) are embedded with usage devices and microchips for documentation purposes, your TV's (even though Manufactured by Japan) have had Microphones for more than a decade and now most have Webcams/Video that they can just sit back and watch you eat your popcorn, or fuck your wife on the sofa.

The truth is, that the only way to win, is to indeed fight tyranny. Each day you wake up, you must realize your not living in a world of Freedom, but instead a world of Control. Each day you walk down the street, or drive in your car, pay attention to your surroundings and open your eyes - open your eyes to all of the sensors and the cameras and the laws and the cops and then you'll just start to realize what is really happening. The preparation and the system of control that has been installed.

Furthermore, the real shitty thing is that people all over the world think that we Americans aren't going to do anything about this. The sad truth is, that everyone knows it's going to happen. You have to understand the real reason we went into Libya, the real reason we are involved in Egypt and Syria. It's to set a precedent. That precedent is this. United Nations goes in and stands up for Government or stands up for People. We have set a precedent. Our Government has signed laws into effect during Obamas administration that will give United Nations to come in here.

Precedent has been made. Control has been asserted. They setup school shootings, they setup movie theatre shootings. They want to take our guns, they want to make us broke, they want to choke us out - so we can't fight back.

They have another thing coming. We might be silent, but we are great in numbers and were wiser than you think, we are the normal middle class, we are the richer upper class, we are factions of the army and normal people in the government, we are the Americans who wake up every day and know that something is going to happen and when it does we know what to do. Take 2 down for my 1, that's all that matters.

Additionally I wanted to add to this...

Imagine this, every single individual on the planet is being monitored by one Government. The residents of Russia, the people of China of Europe of Canada and even Antarctica. Not one single Government has successfully brought up sanctions for invasion of Privacy against the United States Government, not one single foreign Government has threatened to do much of anything for spying on their own members of parliament, presidents/kings/diplomats.

Now imagine how hard it is for us, the people living in this Country, and you'll see the big friggin picture.

However, have no fear. For the rubicon (point of no return) is just about reached. For the many strands that make the muscle are soon to snap.

Freedom is one's state of mind, if you trully belive you are free, you are free.
But if you choose to be aware for the fact that the gov is watching you through your TV while fucking your wife, your a prisoner.

Ignorance Is Bliss

I would much rather be aware and prepared.

They are not just watching through the TV, they also utilize monitoring tools in Printers, Microwaves, Vehicles, Cellphones, Internet, Traffic Cameras, Satellites and more.
