In a shocking development out of Cupertino, Apple CEO Steve Jobs has stepped down, the board naming Tim Cook as his replacement. The company said "Steve's extraordinary vision and leadership saved Apple and guided it to its position as the world's most innovative and valuable technology company," and Steve himself had this to say:

I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple's CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.

I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.

As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.

I believe Apple's brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role.

I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you.

Steve

Apple has confirmed that Jobs will stay on as Chairman. Full details in the PR after the break.

lol idc about apple anyways, the only thing they did right was the Ipod's and the Ipod Touchs, and there were other smaller things like the touch screen etc...
But apple makes me mad.

Too pricy = Apple

Jobs had its time :)

Why would you buy a Honda if you could go with a BMW, if you don't have the money buy Windows, if you do, buy Apple if you want to. Stop about these stupid "too pricy, pay for the name" shit for god's sakes

That's actually sad, he started that company from his garage and now he has to quit as ceo because of health reasons... now it's just hoping that apple does get f*cked up because of that new guy..

Yeah F**k Tim Cook he'd better be off in a kitchen slicing an apple.

Jobs made jobs at Apple.

mate Apple is a big Company and they are not fool enough to appoint Jobs successor if he is not suitable. Steve Jobs himself recommended Cook in his statement

"As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple."

:D
