Transparent background is ok, and black or blue for the logo color.

I respect your offering a membership/subscription/access but most graphic designers wont need this, so I suggest you go for the $$. Does not have to be a lot of money but you will get a much better quality logo. For $5 I will have you a really easy to understand logo (inc icon).
