Why delete all you old files? If you think your rank will improve I think you are so wrong.
What if somebody want to download those files. You are making hotfile a short term filehost. think about the downloaders. even 2 years after you uploaded somebody may want to download those files.

It does improve your rank.
 
It's a bit selfish of you if all you care about is rank and in the process delete old files. Think about the downloaders too. Many downloaders look for those old rare files which you want to delete to improve rank.
 
Yes, that's right , I heard that some of file made sales for you, if you delete it, rank will go down
