Hello

I'm planning to start file sharing start before that i'm curious to know that file sharing sites make money ? If yes how much they are making ? (average) and Last question what is the best monetizing method for file sharing?
( yes i know about vps/dedicated servers and all that)

You need to much resources for this

yes they earn lot of money. But need to much resources.. I just start video sharing.

and not to think about income for 7 to 8 month. Just invest.
DMCA is great issue for files / video hosting website. You should think about it if you can easily waste $15k to $20k

the general question here is "do they make money"

All you have to do is do a quick Google for "Kim Dotcom" and you will find out if the is money to be made!..
 
If you are planning to run it for 1-2 years then it's okay. But if you think you will grow your file hosting site like Rapidshare, Netload then you should have in house lawyers, coders, designers, marketers, IT experts, Tech specialists, etc. You have to buy big servers each month probably from Netherlands or German or Switzerland to avoid law suit issues. Moreover if you are American then you might need to migrate yourself in India, German or other countries where FBI will not hunt you down. Google and SOPA will give you lots of pain in your back. It will be a stressful job as money lies under stressful jobs. So better think twice about your goal before starting this business.
