@jak321, i know that, and i'm an old uploader and i know such thing about shared and resources, but i used yo upload to it when the site was started and the upload speed had been great at those time, now it's very slow :heiligenschein:

^RDP is shared so ye :P and i get varied 1MB-2MB speed with a dedicated 100mbps connection and sometimes its 900KBps used to be over 10MBps but meh those were the days people weren't spamming shit loads of porn on it

i Think DataCloud. To server Problem........In My Personal RDP 10gbps Port ...im also getting 120kbps to 270kbps....

im very sorry of this payment way we are now taking. but we need to wait untill our money is on paypal and the advertiser of us pay us out. you can be sure that everyone will get paid out!

actually the encoding is frustrated us, we are working on the re-encod function. we really working to get this service works very well.

i need a clarification on this, euro or usd because if it is now usd, i guess you just lose mine and other uploaders trust, also, re encoding the video is a bit of a hassle, why not just install codec to play all those videos instead of re encoding that eats up a lot of reources and time

- usd. explained & promissed overhaul, even if with low priority
- at least he is not keeping you in the dark anymore, you should consider giving him props for that; trouble can & will happen to anyone and acknowliging it and apologizing for it is a sign of sincerity that should actually gain trust rather than hurt it.
- divx streaming is in incredibly low demand when compared to flash, in my stats as much as 80% of people bounce when they see a divx player, and i can very well suppose they have a chance of not comming back. turning off encoding, even if for a time being, could prove hurtful to a hoster.

Is encoding really worth it?

What abt users that don't use the streaming feature. They are right now suffering with crap Upload speed.

I say strengthen the server first then later can turn on back the encoding feature.

Sorry for the rants. :-=

is divx the only option for streaming? as far as i could remember im was able to stream mkv files on a server with no streaming settings at all

"divx streaming" or "divx hoster" (as opposed to flash streaming & hosters) are just shortcuts to describe the state of converting and method of streaming - if a particular server converts, its called "flash hoster" and if it does not, its considered a "divx hoster".

while divx & mkv can be streamed, it does not have flash capabilities, unlike mp4 (properly converted) and flv.

that a means person streaming divx/mkv does require plugins for most browsers, either vlc video plugin, alternate or container specific plugins, instead of just streaming right away with flash, which can be expected on pretty much any computer already.

now the reason why people stream at all is convenience, and that in most cases means not having to download or install anything new at all. (following this train of thought, i could even argue that the welcoming screen of datacloud, offering to "regular download" might on itself be responsible for some bounce rate, as opposed to lets say "continue free")

just to fill this rant to full extent of refference
- flv has streaming & seeking abilies, but its rather large
- mp4 has only streaming abilities and uses superior x264 codec, making it the smallest for its quality. its widely preffered converting choice amongst flash hosters.
- mkv cant be flash-streamed, but its still converted with x264, meaning its conversion, if properly done, eg. plain demuxing instead of converting, can leave no strain on the servers. (on the other hand, if converted, can result in some pretty monstrous inbread freaks of nature)
- divx... well, at least it has some nostalgy value in it.

thanks for this discussion here about a flash or divx player, we are probably working on a feature what will allow you this one:

- if a .avi file stream will fail, it will be automaticly streamed with the divx player!
- It isnt about the streaming and the converting, because we coded our script ourself, and we are working on getting this stable.

our database server is overloaded when over 80-100files are converted at the same time.

regards

Dear Deniz ,

I realy can't work like this ! Please do something with the upload speed & encoding problem!
The speed is like 300KB/s so how much time do I need to upload a 2GB file ??

with other hosts I get easly 40 - 50MB/s so please do something!
