Offcourse ubuntu is better if you dont have any experience with Linux OS.

Ubuntu Great distro Linux Mint should be also available for voting. All linux are <3, but ubuntu is most used = best support and easiest to find what you need.

I am using Mint with LXDE atm for an old pc, and it's really fine. Much better than XP or the other alternatives. The only problem is you can't have windows programs.
