A couple weeks ago I found this website:

scenex.org

In itself a pretty good site, but I saw they were, like many other warez sites, they were using Paypal donations on their website. My first reaction was ...

Now checking back I saw this message:
Hi everyone,

We know you hate sites asking for donations.
Our paypal accounts use for donations has been canceled.
Therefore, could not get any donations.
We need a new system for donations.
If donations do not,SceneX can not live a long time.

We're sorry, but SceneX may not be in the new year.

Regards,
Alex

Let this be a warning to those using donations on their website. Don't use Paypal!

BTW What are alternatives used for those accepting donations?

Yea, when i ran my warez sites the active members of my community use to actually ask me to allow donations for some reason, I ended up giving them a star next to their name for like 1 month every time they donated. But I took it off after a while. I have seen sites that have a donation link but instead it links you to one of those CPALEAD surveys so instead of paying actual money you can voluntary fill out a survey as a donation.

Use webmoney or Liberty reserve....
They are actually very safe and u can create/use them without any personal data without any problems.

Yep i had this a couple of years ago PP shutdown my account, on a porn site i had Now i dont bother with donations

Using paypal donations on any warez website is retarded IMO. This is one of the easiest ways for anti piracy groups to find your real identity. Paypal wont wait two seconds before handing out your details. If you want to enable donations on your site use webmoney.

Paypal is a well known to shut down any warez/adult websites use their service. this is not their new rule but already been practiced long time ago since beginning (maybe in mid of 90's).

my advice, if webmasters still wanna use Paypal then they have to make it privately (eg: members send PM to admin for donation via Paypal) and not like put donation button publicly in your home page with full of warez/porn linking or adult materials.

but still if someone hates your site and wanna piss you off, he still can report it to Paypal but the chance the account will be suspended will be less since there is no donation button appears in the website.

What about AlertPay? Are they safe?

Please also let us know safer alternatives to collect funds on warez sites.

flattr <3

users can upload funds with paypal, moneybookers, credit card and a lot more than they send you a flattr donation :D

Down side is they can only send you a donation of 50 euro MAX a month.

Thanks for the heads up, I too would like to know which alternatives are available that you can transfer funds from Paypal to, especially those that work in Asia (Pakistan & India), because I pay my Admins and one of them is in Asia, but Paypal wont work there and so I cant transfer any funds from my Paypal account into alternatives like Alertpay, which does work in Asia.

Thanks

What are the best survey sites? which we can replace donation button.asking users to fill the survey to help the site?

Not a good idea, when members click that donate button you only want one thing from them and its not to reply to a survey,,,,,,that will deter them donating!
